+1

As I mentioned before, if somebody can get the reference then we can all go to our own dealers armed with knowledge.

Wouldn't let me take the reference number as it's an "internal file".

Calling won't cut it. Put your concerns in writing/email so it all goes on the same file.

To customer services direct, or my dealer? If the former, how do I contact them?

Got fed up with having to switch the lights off so sorted it myself.

Seems tape is the only way to cure some F30 issues!

Seems to reduce the reading lights output but still allow the main light to light up the rear when required.

Wow you really went to town on it! Did it need that much tape?

I started by covering just the reading lights, but it lights the area around it too so covered more and more till I was happy it would be enough, but still let out light from the centre light when needed.

I doubt it. It's just really irritating.

Unfortunately not; urban myth. That was going to be opener on my email to BMW.

So guys, I got a 2016 saloon 320i auto (LCI)(M Sport) also fitted with active cruise control.

My issues are similar to all of yours:
1. Only the left or right side light comes on not centre
2. Happens with ACC on Or OFF
3. Once on, it can it turn itself off
4. Once on, if turned off by hand, can turn on again
5. Once left is on, the right one can come on as well (vice versa)
6. Independent of braking, seasonal differences, acceleration, location, radio on of, navigation on off, lights on off etc

But I had a thought! I wanted the extended storage pack which has that compartment near the driver's knee but guess what! You cant have that and active cruise control as some switch and wiring goes in that space for ACC. so BMW refunded me that option cost even though I got the underfloor boot space etc.

So introducing the gizmos in that cubby area is also suspiciously close to the switch for all the lights and I am guessing the light control module is nearby. My car has been at the dealer three times and they just replace the light and re-check the wiring, no luck.

My suspicion is that ACC equipment and light switch and maybe light control module are all too close to be coincidence and may be the reason for our woes.

Anyone smart enough to follow up on that lead and see is there a pinched wire, electrical interference or something between these 3 components?

Good theory, but why just the LCI cars then?

I don't think it is just LCI, pretty sure some guys on this thread have pre LCI.

I've never had the issues on my 2013 335d, which has ACC, and I don't recall this issue ever being mentioned prior to the facelift.

Oh well, I shall just be pleased that only one of my cars is afflicted by this. Definitely much more prevalent after the facelift, or is it just that more folk have specced ACC on later cars I wonder.

Ok so your car has to have ACC, now lets test some other light related features - who where has AUTO LIGHTS (so they turn on and off in the dark) regardless of XENON or LED.

And if some people dont suffer from the issue my guess is that it is wiring so orientation of conflicting parts and or build date windows (short period of pre LCI, but maybe a longer period LCI). If it was a part quality issue, replacing it should have cured the problem or in my case 2 replacements should have done the trick (yet my 3 units all failed within hours of fitment).

So yeah, lets see who else has AUTO LIGHTS on here and whether or not you have this issue?

Also anyone smart or resourceful enough to see the interaction of light switch, light module and ACC module?

I probably shouldn't have chuckled but I did. Reminds me of the scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark when Indy shoots the sword wielding maniac.
