So which is it. Are 3 lights for highest heat and 1 for lowest?

Infact Mercedes heated seats have a timed countdown from full to medium to low and then off!

So press and hold the button when it is on 3 lights and it switches off, I learn something new every month with the car and mainly off the website, thanks!

That's kind of cool, yet also utterly pointless!

The level I have mine on is as much dependant on the time of day it is, beyond a blast at full power to start with. In the morning on the way to the office I can have the seats on full blast most of the way, and the temperature at 22+, yet on the way home, cabin temperature is down to 20 and the seats only used to take the chill off.

I'd guess it's to do with the internal body clock and my metabolism is revved up later in the day compared to 6am.

I also notice later in the day I need to adjust the rear view mirror... presumably due to shrinking slightly over the course of the day!

That's sensible

Had heated seats in my last few cars, never thought I would be that bothered but I would defo pay extra to upgrade to them where they aren't standard fit.

As for the button 1/2/3 default setting... is it really that much of a pain to press it 2 or 3 times instead of 1 ?

I have to press the start/stop button every time i get in but its not really a chore.

Itís one of those things you think is pointless until you have it, and believe me it is excellent! Well it is for me with the amount of journeys I take per day.
