Same shock different Interchange Part Number

hello, i need to replace the struts on my 435 rwd with Adaptive M chassis (S2VFA)

i was looking to replace them with bilstein 23-250727 and 23-250734 650 dlls each

but when i look the oe number that replace

OE NUMBERS
37106850251, 37116793865, 37116874517, 37106865565, 37116865539, 37106865567, 37116864751, 37106866515, 37116793867, 37116854201

i found that the Part # 37-11-6-865-539 OE cost 315 dlls (this fits to the m235 with Adaptive M chassis ) and the Part # 37-10-6-865-567 OE cost 550 dlls (this fits to 435)

so my question can i buy the shock # 37-11-6-865-539 OE that fits the m235 and will fit my 435 so i can save big buck

or why the bilstein can replace a lot of differents oe number parts (i check and cross over all 235, 240, 335, 340, 440, 435 all with adaptive chasis

The PNs you listed are what you should use for your vehicle from Bilstein.

It's pretty common for Bilstein to be lazy and have one model of strut or shock that's supposed to work across a wide array of models. For example, they use the same rear shock no matter if it's damping a light F30, heavier F31, or even heavier F34 rear end. BMW uses different springs/dampers for all those (as they should). Lazy lazy lazy.

Great so actually the shock would fit on the car but the damping capacity would be lower if i put one for the m235 to the 435, as i understand

You'd have to ask Bilstein which model the strut was optimized for. They could've optimized it on the 2 series and then said it fits a 4, or they could've done it the other way around. Even more likely, it's not optimized on either, and they made a guess where they thought a decent "middle point" would be across all models (so not optimized for anything), put them on the cars, drove those cars on the ring, and said, "Feels acceptable, now we can say it was developed on the Nurburgring!"

you are right but for example adaptative dampers for m235 cost 315 dlls each and adaptative dampers for 435 cost 550 dlls each on getbmwparts

Wait, so you're talking about getting an OE F22 strut and putting it on your F32 now instead of Bilsteins?

You'd have to look at the corner weight, spring rate, and the EDC profile of an F22 to try and see how it'd perform on your F32. Since there's a lot of missing info there you really can't say it'll be over/under damped and how it'll feel.
