Squeaking noises from wheels
Hi,
I have a 2016 420i M Sport. There is currently a squeak coming from what appears to be the front left wheel. It’s most obvious at slow speeds but I can still hear it when I speed up, although not as much. I’ve just had a wheel alignment and washed, polished and waxed the car. Might it be because of the wash? It is hotter in London than it has been recently as well. I also had both my rear brakes and pads replaced about a month ago. I had the same noise on my car. It turns out that the brake pad touches the rim of the brake disc. This may be due to brake disc wear. This would be worth checking out. |

Brake pad wear sensor? Might not be secured properly.

I'm going to say it's because of the wash. Rotors are bare steel which rust, and what you are hearing is the pads occasionally rubbing (which is normal).
If you take it up to 100kph, and then do a smooth but aggressive brake to a much lower speed, it will scrub off any of that, and should go away. I get that when I drive in the rain, park in the garage for a couple of days when it's humid out. |
