Will a BMW Dealership Change my Oil Earlier Than It Needs to be Changed?
So my car needs to go to the dealer to get the steering wheels buttons fixed and maybe get a few things checked. The computer on the car says the oil needs to be changed in 1500 miles so if I took it to BMW would they change the oil or would I have to wait until it actually needs to be changed? I'd rather just take my car to get everything fixed or checked at the same time instead of making two trips.
Thanks! |

I'd just tell your SA you'd like it done now to save yourself another trip to the dealer. |

It may depend whether you are under a service contract or not. Here in Australia I'm on a service contract with our X3 and the dealers wont do any servicing before the due date or mileage. They did acknowledge there is some leeway - maybe 200-300km (120-180 miles) before its due.
Otherwise I'm sure they would be happy to do it before its due but of course I would assume you would have to pay for it. Tony |

Sorry - misunderstanding here. Its nothing to do with warranty. I'm saying that if you have a pre-paid service or maintenance agreement with your car (which is different to warranty at least here downunder) they may refuse to carry out the work until it is due. But even if you do have a service agreement, they will do the work if requested, but if its outside the schedule of the service agreement you would have to pay.

As long as your interval shows at least 1500 miles to go they'll change it. Had it done on my old e46 and e84 all the time and with the f30. Dealers in NY, NJ and FL so I assume all over.

It's whatever BMWNA will let the dealer get away with because that's who pays them.

Of course they will perform oil changes and everything that you want, whenever you want it. But if it is not scheduled in the maintenance program, you will have to pay for it.

In the US at least, they will not change it under warranty until you are at or within 1000 miles. However, they may change it under warrant since you are close but they aren't required to.

I would challenge them or go elsewhere. You are entitled to have your car serviced under the plan when the service indicator turns yellow. This usually gives you a leeway of at least 1000km. I have a maintenance plan (Australia) and had it done over 1k km early. |

Well I took my car to the dealer today and they said 1500 until the next oil change was close enough so they are going to change it under warranty!
Thanks everyone |
