Very easy, ten minutes to take off, then 30 minutes removing glue, polishing and wax application.

Yes, I kept the side ones as they look ok and are quite small.

Much prefer the smooth lines of a debadged look, seems to just suit beemers

On a side note, anyone ever think its strange how we still badge petrols as i for injection despite that technology being very much standard fare now??

330i 340i etc, surely they could think of something more relevant to current technology

Strangely like my 330d badge and kept the C320 badge on the Merc, but removed both 318 badges years ago and the Merc C220 badge.

All bit show for me - hide the lesser power ones, proudly happy to say there is a 3.0 litre engine in this one.

Agree the X Drive badges look a bit cheap.

Who remembers the 1980/90s cars, many had ABS on the back, to show they had the anti lock brakes, some said turbo, some injection, V6 I spotted a nearly new Audi TDI recently and the driver/owner put a V6 chrome badge on the back

I would have thought that too, I watched the videos and read the words, my friendly and of so professional detailer spent over 1 hour, 2 rolls of dental floss, a professional heat gun and many bad words to do mine.

I too have left the M badges on and agree that the car is faster now, perhaps the weight reduction also helps.

I've always de-badged my motors (irrespective of engine size) ever since my VW days many years ago.

In fact, I remember when I was younger when a friend of my Dad (a German) told us that it's popular in Germany because it's no-one elses business which engine you have (especially if you were rocking a 6 cylinder petrol instead of a smaller 4 cylinder petrol) - Germans are quite reserved and don't like to make a song and dance about what they drive. Made sense, especially after seeing lots of high spec BMW & Mercs de-badged (as well as the base models).

Since the VW Vento which started it for me all my cars have been de-badged (including our petrol engined Mercedes C320). Same for my parents, their cars have always been de-badged either from factory order or by the dealer or us after purchase.

Looks much cleaner and keeps people guessing.

Leave badge on unless you want to hide the fact that you have a lower spec engine.

Garage List
One has to ask the question - why do BMW feel the need to adorn the rear/(side) of their cars with a badge indicating the relative performance of the vehicle with respect to other cars of the same model? All it really becomes is a self serving ego trip for owners by creating an artificial hierarchy for "My car is better than your car" type shenanigans

Am I right in thinking that BMW is one of a diminishing group of car manufacturers who badge their cars in such a way?

Nope, Audi have taken it to the next level with the badge denoting the engine output.

The most stupid that I have seen (IMO) is the Porche Macan with the word "Diesel" emblazoned down the side.

Some current Vauxhal's still do use the Turbo moniker.
I saw a Astra "Turbo" (67 plate i think) at the weekend. What a c*ck i thought....

The cars of 70s often had automatic badges on them if they were - helped those behind to understand why it set off so slowly whilst the torque converter and three gears did its stuff....

De badged mine prior to her winter polish/wax coat. Took no time at all and done it with the Mrs hairdryer. Picked off the sticky residue and polished out. Looks sooooo much better!

I'm not de-badging as I don't want anyone to think I'm driving a diesel.
