I've ordered an M140i and was happy with the deal. Not taken delivery yet, but since ordering there is now increased BMW support (about 4%) and improved offers.
I put down £1,000.

So what do people think, 'suck it up buttercup' or push the dealer?

Anyone had example of this and what was the outcome?

usually the finance is secured against the car being built and the offers apply to cars "ordered between" date -

My dealer couldn't apply a lower rate when i asked as I was in a similar boat to you because of the ordered clause in the agreement.

But if you don't ask, you won't get and if you will be more than 1K better off, you could cancel and order again elsewhere? if BMW would let you do this I don't know.

Often BMW seem to give with one hand and take with the other (so for example when deposit contributions go up the finance rates get worse and vice-versa).

However, if you're saying if you ordered now you'd get a deal that's significantly better overall than the one you've signed-up for I'd have a word with your dealer and see what they can do. If they say nothing doing - and sticking with your current deal would genuinely leave you a fair bit worse off - I'd be tempted to cancel and re-order with someone else providing a) you can get your deposit back and b) any resultant time delay on delivery isn't a problem to you.

Yes APR is the same, but there are public (Stratstone website) factory order cars with far better money off (part dealer, part BMWFS funded).
I'm going in to the dealer on Sat to have a chat.
Would make sense to walk away as saving would be in the region of £2k, so even without getting my deposit back I'd still be £1k up on the deal. That would be my back stop position. ie make me whole or I'll walk. Obviously I won't be that blunt first off

Hopefully another thing in my favour is the spec, the Cognac leather isn't to everyone's tase (dealers words not mine) so not sure they would want as a stock car. : will see.....

Speaking personally I'm happy providing I've got a competitive deal so in your situation if your dealer moved to a point where I was only a few hundred quid down (as opposed to £2k) I'd probably be ok with that and go ahead with them. That said, your start point is obviously to say I can do £2k better and invite them to match it!

Good luck on Saturday!

Yes. Even meeting me half way would be acceptable to avoid the ball ache of ordering another.

Thanks. I'll update once I've chatted to them.

You can ask, but be prepared for them to say no.

The contribution may be better, but the GFV may have gone down, negating any saving on the monthlies, which wouldn't be surprising as the new 1 series is out later this year.

But a lower GFV means you can buy the car at the end more cheaply so that’s good...

Unless I'm very much mistaken, you've signed a contract. A legally binding contract. If you back out of it, then the selling dealer is legally entitled to enforce said contract.
In such a case, having a 'not to everybody's taste' leather colour is more likely to be to your detriment, rather than benefit

Yes, you're right and of course I've read that. One option is to claim under the distance selling clause.

Like I said, I'm happy with the deal I have, just want to see if there's any improvement to be had. My 335dx has been at the dealer since 8 Jan to muddy the water also.

A bit of digging today and it appears BMWUK ( not the finance arm or retailer) have added £1200 in as support. Just want to make sure that if that's on offer there's a benefit, rather than the dealer bagging it.

Have you signed the finance documents then?

Distance selling has a 14 day cool-off period. You still inside that ?

Yes. Expires Sunday.
Paperwork was delayed because their emails to me failed. They ordered and then panicked that I'd not returned paperwork. They had misspelt the email address.

Thinking of getting a 140i myself. If you don't mind me asking what is the total discount you managed to get off, dealer discount and BMW contribution? Cheers

Of course not.
Build cost is a nudge over £41k. Discount is £9.5k, so about 23%.

Not too bad, although I think I'll keep mine under £40k to avoid the higher tax rate and another £25 a month.

Or, is yours still under with the first years tax to come off?

No, mines over. I wasn't willing to compromise on the options I wanted.
Understand why people would though.

You might have only had to lose about £500 to get under. That £25 a month is worth about the same as that extra £1200 discount you're looking to get.

Yes, but coming from a high spec 335dx I didn't want to lose too many comforts.
As I say I'm happy with the price, just want to see if I can improve in light of the ones cropping up.
