Window Tint: 3M Colour-stable or SunGuard?

If you have 3M Colour-stable or SunGuard window tint, I'd like to hear your experiences with it. Are you satisfied? What did you pay (5 windows)?

I'm thinking 35% tint on 2 fronts, 20% on the 3 back windows.

I don't know what brand of tint I have. I know the tint I bought has a lifetime guarantee.

I went with the 35/20 setup you are considering. I'm very content with it. It looks nice and it offers enough sun protection, and with the front passenger windows being at the legal tint level, it keeps the cops content enough.

Hate to burst your bubble, but you're not "legal" unless DC has changed their laws recently.

I was debating Color Stable and ended up going with Formula One Pinnacle.

I have 35% on four side windows and 20% on the rear windshield. Looks consistent and stealth, without being overdone

OK...maybe not, but I got stopped Monday a.m. and the cop didn't make an issue of it and he didn't give me a speeding ticket either, despite my going well over 60 down 14th St, NW (25 mph is the limit there) on the way to the airport.

Perhaps it just feels legal because one can still see through the tint.

40% all around. Just dark enough and not too ghetto.

I have SunGuard 40% (IIRC) all around and have been happy with it. Just make sure the installer is competent and can do the job correctly the first time. My wife has 3M Ceramic in her car and I can't tell the difference.

Mine has the 3M Crystalline Ceramic CR50 (let's in 50% light) and its just enough tint during the day. At night it does cut down some on light visibility (my old eyes don't help either) and if I had to do it again, I would have gone with CR60, or at least on the rear to see better when reversing.

Tinting the windshield below the AS-1 line is not legal in FL. AS-1 may not be marked on BMW windshields but its about the spot where the typical windshield tint band stops.

I would say 3M color stable over Sungard products. I'm not even sure what Sungard makes for auto film today. They were acquired by Madico about 2 years ago. On the Sungard website they no longer identify their specific automotive tint products.

http://www.sun-gard.com/automotive-window-film

My guess is that Sungard product today is rebranded Madico.
http://www.madico.com/window-film/automotive/

I think Wincos is the only Madico product competitive with 3M color stable or crystalline. And in my experience Wincos has a blue hue to it that may not be pleasing to your eye (when looking outside). Their other films are either dyed or metal.

BTW, you live in Canada. You likely don't need 20% VLT film unless you really want privacy. I'd stick with 35% VLT or greater in Canada.

I've been quoted $340 for all five windows here in Canada. So what did you guys pay for the 3M (Either CDN or USD)?

Formula One Pinnacle FTFW. I get this tint over and over again and it's so beautiful.

50% fronts (so I don't get harassed by police, I just open the sunshade and it looks like I have no tint at all), 35% backs and rear. Then I went with Llumar Air Blue 80 for the front windshield (can't even tell it's there, but 43% heat rejection!).

My issue with Ceramic films is the interior reflectivity. Too much for my taste. F1 Pinnacle is good stuff, OP, just be sure to sit in a car with it and take notice of the reflectivity when looking outside. particularly when trying to look through the side view mirror when the sun is hitting the side glass.
