On the Plus side it's easy to find in the parking lot...

My 640iGT is a hybrid between the 540i and the 7 and it's exceptional. I live in rural Wiltshire and have no issues with its size on country lanes. It's quiet, comfortable and very fast when you want it. I would imagine the 540i experience is very similar. Comfort seats are definitely a plus though. Adjustable everything and massage function as well :-)

The wheelbase is the same as the 7, right? I bet there is tons of legroom and decent boot space despite the slope. I had a 3GT which was night and day vs. the 3 series for space, similar story.

Exactly that, but because it has 5 series width with 7 series length, it's not as barge-like as a 7. Also, because you can take out the two parcel shelf elements (there's a specific storage space for them below the boot floor) you can load it up to the glass.

"Boot space
The 5 Series Touring has a generous 570 litres of space with the seats in place, or 1,700 litres with them folded down. In contrast, under the 6 Series GT’s large hatchback there’s 610 litres with the seats up or 1,800 litres with them folded"

This is pretty big as well. Cheaper than a 6 GT.

That's fabulous. It does remind me a little of Homer Simpson's car design:

My brother has a Ssangyong - in his case Rexton. It does more miles with a caravan on the back, and with 4 dogs in the boot, than it does without. He wouldnt swap it for most of the cars the people on here own except maybe MashinBenzin's car... but only if someone was paying the running costs for him!

On the down side, you'll need to factor in the time and cost for getting your HGV licence

Exactly why you need an MSport Plus on 20's :-)

I used to drive a grand espace, with a twin axle caravan on the back. I have that qualification....

18s would be like a 3er on 16s

On the right wheels, I can't see a legitimate argument against a 6GT. This should be your next car Ian

Amazing. My Disco is "only" something like 800/2500L and its roofline is flat and about 3 times the height! Appreciate the 6GT is a bit longer, but that's incredible practicality.

Why have that sloping rear when a touring looks so much nicer!
