Steering wheel question

So I have the m sport racing steering wheel in my f30. I got the car pre owned with it and I'm sure I'll hurt someone's feeling on here but honestly I don't like it. I don't like how it feels and I have no use for the digital read out . So now my questions.

If I change the steering wheel are all of them compatible with my paddle shifters or do I need to find specific ones that have or have had paddle shifters to work?

Also since I have the racing one do I need to recode anything if I find a different steering wheel?

Thank you
Chris

All paddle shifters are the same as far as hookup and function. Some look different.

Not 100% sure on the coding part but I would think you wouldn’t have to code anything off to get another wheel with out the digital reader to work. Just make, sure the new wheel has the same functions as the one your taking off. Like heated, paddles and vibration for lane departure if equipped.

As long as you get a wheel with the same airbag it’s a simple 10 minuet swap out.

So does it matter for the paddle shifters . Or does all of the sport steering wheels accept the paddle shifters?

No. Some of the base or "Sport" steering wheels cannot accept the paddles. You can add the wiring and coding, but you'll still need a wheel with paddles.

I already had paddles, but hated the feel of the Sport Line wheel. Rubbery...not leather, and somewhat thin. Bought a reconditioned F20 wheel from an Ebay seller, so I could keep my same airbag. It's amazing! The seller had options for with and without paddles. More info here: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1323430

I can fully understand why you don't like it
I think it is a winning concept but awful, awful implementation!
Get a designer younger than 60, BMW!
