Hello all, I am taking the time to make this post as I know that many of us in the gen 1 b58 gang have very similar questions.

I am looking to replicate the G series shift fart sound on our F series cars using xHP. I want the quick and sharp shift sound.

Example of shift sound with straight pipe:
https://youtu.be/0At-Zy-pTN0?si=4kWqmbNphwI64VV5

My set up: 2018 440i- MHD Stage 2- xHP stage 3- MST Intake.

Exhaust: VRSF Catless DP- Mid Pipe Delete with a stock muffler.
(That being said, I don’t believe it would have to do with my exhaust being restrictive as the car is able to make crisp shift/ pop sounds with this exhaust.)

I use settings like torque reduction on upshift to help make the sound a little more crisp, but it is still not the same consistent sound I’m looking for. I know xHP released a new ignition cut shifting feature that no one has covered, could bring us closer to the sound. Could this be the answer?

I’m not a genius when it comes to tuning and tweaking settings so I want to see if anyone has optimal settings for it.

If we share the HP50 transmission, what’s stopping us from obtaining this sound for gen 1? Is there something different within the gen 2 reguarding ignition cutting that makes the car sound that way? Can it be replicated through the TCU?

I know that some may view this type of post as ridiculous and say to enjoy the car how it is, but some of us are audiophiles and crave the little things like this it would really make me happy to have some sort of definitive answer so I know if this is possible or not. I appreciate any insight and guidance on this. Thank you!!

I have this on my car with xHP stage 2, i believe the soft shift in sport setting is turned off, that's what triggered it. so every time I shift with throttle, there is the brap.

XHP just added a feature to allow you to tune the behavior of that function I believe.

exactly, I am planning to tinker with this a bit tonight so can report back. my car has a GPF though so results might differ to models without one.

well I had a play with this new setting "ignition cut shifting" tonight.

I activated the setting and set all 3 standard, medium and fast settings to 250nm/2500rpm as it seems the slider further left will make for more ignition cut shifting generally and so more noise when shifting.

Well my findings were really no difference with the setting activated.

I was also running torque reduction upshifts at the same time all set at +15% so not sure if this would have much effect.

My car has a GPF as its UK model after 2018 its required by law. I'd be interested to hear if others with or without GPF have found much difference with this setting activated in shift noise?

I miss the noise of the DSG in my Golf R on an upshift I must say.... about all I miss about it though.
