Of course it will! You just need to code the screen size as well to take advantage of the widescreen layout.

DISPLAY_SIZE_RESOLUTION = werte=02 (10.25 1280x480)
DISPLAY_VARIANTE = werte=02 (breites_display)

1) I can tell you that in personal conversations after the mod, PabloK was not happy with the added height, which was my major concern.

2) After removing mine with xxxjecxxx2 here is the best solution, imo.

3) Purchase several "dead" screens on eBay for $15 each. I made offer of 4 for $10 each and they took it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/171497058000 who knows, you might actually get some working units.

4) File off the outer metal tabs on the 10.2" screens that prevent it from going into the hole on your F3x dash. Compare the 10" and the 8" once removed and it's easy to see what I am talking about. As you have spares, the spares will have the notches on the frames should you want to remove the CID later. Then again, if part is $100-$300, are you really that desperate to remove? IMO, just easier to leave in and sell the 8" CID on eBay.

5) Trim the black plastic housing to side over the dash. Might take several tries to get it correct, but you have backups @ $10 each. You also have an uncut frame if you remove CID in future. See proof of concept square cut below. No glass cutting was needed.

6) if you feel you cannot trim it correctly, just take it to a custom Auto Audio Dealer to cut the black plastic trim for you. Would take them only a few minutes. And again, you have spares if first isn't right.

7) Code resolution.

8) Done

Would have never come up with this without xxxjecxxx2 Use him for all your coding needs (and more) in Florida.

As this is their expertise, I can't share more but wanted to recommend that you don't cut the dash like OP as it is not a reversible process.
From your post, it sounds as if ELEBEST installed cutting the plastic trim cover on the screen as I described above.

Can you please posts pictures of your CID from front and the sides where plastic trim was cut?

I can tell you that by cutting your dashboard base for the larger mounting area make the process non-reversible.

As MSportTune2 noted, No glass cutting needed.

No, this can't be done by just "pushing", of course. You need to cut the plastic material - of the monitor, not of the dash - with a sufficient tool (which we call "Dremel" here) so that it will match the angle and curve of the dash - and which is different on the left and right side!

German craftsmanship. (But not mine, to be honest, one of our F30 fellows did it, free-hand sitting in the car.)
Again, note reference to cutting the plastic frame - as noted above.

You can see the side trimmed on the photos from @myfxp As he noted they were done free hand. A custom audio installer could make it even more flush, which is where the spares could come in handy.

Compare these with #5 square concept cut above. I did not need to cut into silver which is why a spare was key to experimenting with.

Anyone needing an extra frame (or more) to experiment cutting on while attempting to get the angle correct for this DIY project, message me. I have several spares I will sell via PayPal for $21 each including postage to anywhere in lower 48. Cheaper than the eBay link above when shipping is added.

I went through 2 before I got one to my liking.

As LCDs are dead and to cut down on weight, those will not be shipped.

Hello to all, just want to ask a question, so if I understand correctly this swap will not work if your car is not equipped with Navigation?

I just received my screen today, fortunately I'm in the process of buying my car.

Want to know if I should go with a model that has Nav.

Thanks in advance

Has anyone ordered from this guy before? Its sold As-is but he's sold about 170 units already. Curious if they're selling "as-is" because they cant test it.

I tested units I got - as others have as well.

The description was true.

If someone has had luck, I'd be curious.

They are good for experimenting with trimming the housing to work with your dash.

Has anyone done this mod successfully on a NBT-EVO or NBT-EVO 2 unit?

I seem to recall someone posted it did not work with EVO, but that post is not in this thread.

Thanks.

It works with EVO. Evo uses APIX2, while NBT uses APIX1. You can code APIX1 screen to work with EVO, but you will need a cable with voltage regulator. There is someone in Chicago trading F15 screen with cable that would work with EVO for EVO 8.8 screen. A perfect opportunity to get ID6 running on EVO.

What do you guys think about idrive 5.0 screen? New F15 has touch screen. If I have idrive 5.0 version of F31, will it also fit plug'n'play with touch ability? I doubt it... but?

I've been thinking about this too. If the new X5 with touch screen uses the NBT-EVO unit then I think it should be plug and play with an F30 that also has the NBT-EVO unit (2016+ IIRC).

I'm not really sure, and I don't think there are a lot of people around who tried it, but my logic tells me NBT EVO headunit will make friends with NBT EVO display. So, NBT NEXT headunit=NBT NEXT display...

How hard have you searched for "months"?

http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1387942

Considering what they cost new, the cheap supply on eBay were snapped up 6 months ago once this and other threads appeared.
