Please help, car won't start!

Hello,

Car is stock 2013 F30 335xi 55k mi., battery replaced 2 weeks ago.

Today went to start car and got one blip from the starter and everything went dead. No lights, ignition, locks or accessories.

Voltage at battery and under hood jump terminals with leads connected is ~4.5V.
Voltage with battery disconnected is ~12.9V, so my guess is a short somewhere.

Any suggestions on were to check for the short in the wiring?
Are there any known issues with this happening to these cars?

I tried disconnecting the IBS (intelligent battery sensor) connector on the negative lead to no avail.

Thank you!

As battery is recent change, I would wonder if it holding voltage under a load.

I went through a crazy couple of weeks at around the same mileage you have where I kept getting new battery and a day or two later they would die, kept going to the dealership and they couldn't figure it out and kept replacing the battery. They finally figured out my water pump had a short and kept draining the battery while my car was not on. Have them check that, hopefully that's it for you too, good luck!

Sounds like something is drawing power, it's not the battery obviously if it's brand new. Good luck!

Update

Update:

Dealer told me they put their "shop foreman" on it today with the tech and they don't believe it is the battery (I'm assuming they tested it and/or put a spare battery in it to check) and that there is a draw somewhere in the car.

Should hear more by the end of the week.

Thank you for all the replies!

Unfortunately, this forum member never came back to give a final conclusion. His “update” post above was his 3rd from last post on this forum.

The last time this forum member posted to the forum was back in Dec 2016. You can see all of their posts at this link: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/se...rchid=83225052
