N20 320I X drive 100k miles service

Hi,

Carrying out a 100k service over the next few months and ticking off the following:

Drivetrain fluids/filters
Fuel filter (external euro model maybe)
Intake valves - CRC direct, engine off clean
Water pump
Thermostat + bmw coolant

Anything else required?

Is the water pump a good idea at 100k. I've not had any warnings and ISTA shows it maintaining at 90c along with the oil temps at 90c (halfway between left reading and top reading)

Thanks

The old E90 water pump failed normally around 100k-120k km. As for thermostat, check your error log. My F10 N20 thermostat failed open and replace around 70k. Check your engine mounting and absorber mounting too.

When you say drivetrain, you mean the transmission? You definitely should do an automatic transmission, drain, fill and filter/pan change by 100k. I do not know the specifics of the transfer case though...

I would add to that:
engine air filer
power steering fluid, drain and fill
engine coolant drain and fill
spark plugs
diff fluid drain and fill
cabin air filter
the windshield cowl if the weather strip is damaged
take the brake calipers apart, clean, polish the slides, regrease
bleed a quart or two of new fluid through until it comes out clean from every caliper

Also, sorry to tell you, this is around the time that the timing chain guides fail and take out the engine. Best to replace everything before that happens.
