Stock B48 BM3 Exhaust Burbles?

Hi,

Has anyone tuned in the Bootmod3 exhaust burbles on a stock b48 320i (or 330i/e) which has a stock exhaust system? If so, how are the burbles like? (videos would be nice)

Also any concerns with this for longevity of the cat and/or turbo?

Thanks

Garage List
I did for a few days. I only ever heard them in my garage. Driving around (it’s cold) with the windows up and top up and radio going I can’t hear. I turned them off since my system is stock. If I ever replace the downpipe then I will change to stage 2 and reenable burbles.

the burble will not significant, and you can hear only in sport mode.
Do this for long run, and your exhaust will blow (or crack). It happens on my mate 320i b48 with stock exhaust after 3 months, running stage 1 BM3.

Thank you all for the informative responses.
So does this mean that I will need to go catless, or a high flow cat - to run burbles safely?

It just depends on how aggressive you want your burbles to be. Mild natural burbles might not be too bad for a stock cat. Medium burbles might be okay for an upgraded high flow cat. But if you want those aggressive, obnoxious gun shot like burbles, you're going to want to go catless.

Would this give any benefit in terms exhaust longevity? I thought all the burbles happen in the Cat?

I thought that this would be the case, I am thinking of the high flow cat option, so there is no CEL and will pass the emissions

If you want to increase burbles, you will need a tune. If you get a tune, you do not have to worry about a CEL, as the tune can disable the rear o2 sensor.

I have an MPE with a stock cat and left the burbles on the "OEM" setting with stage 1 (default). I also have the exhaust flap fixed open, this is key. Burbles in comfort are nice and sport turns them up quite a bit.

Keep burbles at default settings for stock cats. You can be more aggressive with catless downpipes

Yes, I am planning Bootmod3 stage 1 very soon.

I think to begin with I will keep to the stage 1 OTS burble setting, I will be happy with the small burbles on the stock system to begin with.
Once I am ready to spend some more cash, then will consider a high flow catted or a catless downpipe - mainly for the sound, might not go to a stage 2 flash as i don't want to stress the engine any further than stage 1

The stock b46 330i has very mild burbles in the Sport setting. They can be heard while doing engine revs with the window down/door open. The BM3 stage 1 map with a 7 aggression value, will produce burbles that can be faintly heard from inside the cabin (stationary vehicle) with the stock exhaust. The same setup with the M Performance exhaust will produce audible, mild burbles while the vehicle is in motion.
