Do I have an N20 or N26 engine?

I have what I think is an N26 engine for a few reasons:
- the emissions sticker on the inside hood says SULEV
- I installed an evolution racewerks N26 downpipe that was the same general shape (O2 sensor and bracket placements) as my stock downpipe and fit perfectly fine
- mdecoder said I have an N26

I went to tune my car with bootmod3, and it was detected as an N20-EWG-L-P. My TIC pipe also says N20 on it, but not sure if that's just a reused part between the two engines.

Is bootmod3 just reporting N20 even though it's an N26? Should I reach out to PTF?

Don’t worry it’s the right map. BM3 doesn’t differentiate between N20/N26 as they are the same engine and programming. You’re good to go with those N20 maps.

Won't matter for tuning because N20/N26 are tuned the same as mentioned above, but if a VIN decoder says you have an N26 and an N26 downpipe fit on your car, you probably have an N26

N26 has two filters in the air box and has two catalytic converters in the exhaust. Very simple to confirm.

Go to mdecoder.com and run your VIN, it will tell you basically everything about your car.

Yeah I ran mdecoder and it said N26. Was just confused why bootmod3 would be programmed to say "detected n20 engine." Thanks for the tip!

No problem! Bootmod3 tunes N20 and N26 the same as they are basically the same as far as tuning goes, so they just list N20's as N26.

The best way to tell if you have an N20 or N26 engine is to check the engine bay. Underneath the factory hood (bonnet), there will be a sticker showing the emissions specs of the car. The sticker will look like this:
If you have an N20 engine, it will say ULEV. If it is an N26 engine, it will say SULEV.
