Yes if u still coverage(e.g. ESC extended service contract) do bring the car to dealer for one last checkup. Dealer tech should have a test plan to check TC slack, and can listen to engine high pitch whine.

BMWNA then needs to check the collected evidence before authorizing the fix.
Update took my car in this week. The dealer is doing the timing chain along with the turbo as they noticed some play in the wastegate! Sounds like the job will take a week

Just got my car back today! I am shocked by how much smoother and quieter the car runs now. It's day and night.

That's probably due to all the rattling that an older turbo does on these cars, since you had that replaced too.

I noticed my car runs like a gasoline engine now also after the replacement. Prior to this, it was running like a diesel truck. Horrible.

So does it mean that I can take my car to the dealership and have it fixed provided I am within the mileage groups. My car has 75k miles.

Correct, provided dealer runs the diagnostics plan and proves to BMWNA that the problem exists.

The truck engine sound is there just less prominent. And yes, the engine is a lot nicer to drive as well. I am thinking about doing the walnut cleaning of the intake. Read ppl are getting good engine response when cleaned.

Mine drives and sounds day and night since I had mine done! I am only at 45k miles. I am hoping I can make it to 100k with few issues

I filed all the papers almost as soon as they opened up the process. Wondering if anyone received their reimbursement check yet?

If anyone was wondering, the original complaint was filed 9/22/2017, case was settled on 7/13/2021.

1390 days OR 3 years, 9 months, 21 days OR 45 months, 21 days

It's been a fun ride, glad to be able to provide updates over the past several years and good luck to anyone that is involved.

Thank you for your dedication to the cause!

I followed this thread closely, but ended up selling my N26@41.5% of OTD paid 8.5 years ago. You are right that it's been a fun ride nonetheless.

not yet, though I don't expect to get my check in a week when it takes nearly 4 years for the case to work through the court system!

Guess I'll use the borescope occasionally to view the internals, otherwise, I'll continue to hold my breath each time I drive my car. I only have 62k miles, so fingers crossed the engine holds out a good bit longer.

They usually go without warning, so it can look fine one day, and literally grenade your engine the very next day. You're rolling the dice every time you drive the car. I'd DUMP it ASAP - especially with the used car market on fire right now.
