Lets be honest. The Urus isn't selling because people think its gorgeous, its selling because its an SUV with a Lamborghini badge.

Urus has a style whether good or bad unlike BMW designs. A design can be good or bad but should not look like mismatched lego pieces duct taped together. It is not certain whether these are a fish or a bird. The front is a bird, the tail is a fish, the middle is a reptile. Urus is all fish or chicken. I would not hire BMW design team to design napkins for a casual picnic.

The Lamborghini sells because it gets attention and people like attention. Same with this BMW XM. It's meant to do the same.

Not a fan of the headlights or taillight cut-outs. Maybe it will look better in person as I find a lot of today's new vehicles do not photograph well.

It'll compete with these cars on paper, but this won't carry the same level of badge snobbery. The Bentley Bentayga is a good example. It's a pretty ugly car but bc of its "premium" badge, competes at a very upmarket level. But even the Bentayga looks better than this monstrosity. BMW is competing w/ Lexus, Audi and MB. No Ferrari or Lamborghini buyer is going to move away from those brands to a BMW. |

When given the choice of a flashy, fast, flagship, attention grabbing SUV like the XM for $100K less than a Urus, you'd be surprised. No one ever thought a Porsche would be cross-shopped with a BMW and it happens all the time now, especially in the SUV segment.

Lmk when you find someone cross shopping a modern Ferrari and a modern BMW. If you actually believe this, you must've gotten a deep lobotomy at your last BMW dealership visit. |

Same will happen with the XM. Once the market knows it's a $200K flag ship SUV, they'll be cross-shopped.

Totally agree with the attention, disagree with the design because it is confusing. They want to sell this to "gen Z" who cannot afford these.

No, not actually $200K but I'm sure this will be a $140-$160K vehicle with normal options.

Just need to work on the having 300k to blow on a weekend toy bit In all seriousness though, they serve different purposes. No one buys a "real" Ferrari (disqualifying shit like the california from "real") as a daily drive. It would suck as one. So you're right, noones wondering to themselves, should i get this supercar or a that practical one. But the same person who is looking at one could easily fancy a bimmer as a daily drive. Its a great choice… we're all here for a reason aye? Even given unlimited funds, I still would personally still prefer bimmers over say a gaudy Rolls or Bentley, for normal day to day driving. I think they are classier, less noisy, and in all ways that matter just as nice. |

There's definately a thing going on between Hyundai - BMW.
I don't know if it's somehow related to the former BMW M president joining hyundai to kick start their 'N' devision. Also: https://www.auto123.com/en/news/poss...and-bmw/12157/ https://www.drive.com.au/news/bmw-an...ership-report/ These articles are years old, are we finally seeing the result? |
