As are many Californians lol. I'd love to take you to COTA! My girlfriend and I go karting there relatively often. It's a great time
sorry for the late reply I'd love to go to cota! I'm really tempted to do the single seater school there

Despite the traditional thinking that AS tires can't compete on a performance level with Summer tires, the new crop of UHPAS tires have closed the gap. Someone posted up track stats that Tire Rack uses between the two categories and virtually identical. New vette, for example, runs Michelin AS tires.

No question if I were you in your location to go with AS tires

Continental extremecontact dws06 plus 245/40/18 saves 2.8lb over Michelin pilot sport a/s 4. And that's unsprung weight.

To chime in: I went from P7 RFT to Bridgestone Turanza non-runflat tires. My new wheels (19" BBS/Bridgestone 255/35/19) come in at 23,6 kg per corner, opposed to the OEM 18"BMW 397/Pirelli RFT combination at 23,2 kg per corner, so nearly the same.

Ride quality however is much improved, and the steering feels a lot more direct. Mileage on these wheels is very good - no high performance tire like the Michelin but very durable.

I like my Michelin PS4S but they lasted 40k miles and that is not sufficient for me at this price point. I do have winter tires and rims.

I wonder if I should switch to something less “spectacular” but get more mileage out of them and at a lesser cost. Would anyone recommend a similar tire or should I go AS?

Had I not picked up the Michelin PS 3+ at steep discount due to discontinuation, I would have gone with the General GMAX and that's still the plan after all I've read once these are done. my .02

NO, the AS-05. Used to run the Summer and Winter combo until I got caught several times in either early or late season snow before or after the Winters ere on. Terrifying!
