Fuel tank leak
I am beyond pissed, at the dealer and myself. First time this car was serviced I mentioned an occasional smell of diesel. The service guy blew me off with :well, all diesels smell some. The tank was diagnosed as leaking today and of course, the CPO warranty ran out a year ago. They want $3200 to do the job, probably 25-30% of the car's value. I plan to leave it like it is.
Searches suggest that BMW makes shit tanks, so I'm lodging a squawk with the NHTSA. |

Do you have the service papers? Do they mention that you have brought the car in for the smell of diesel? If so and you made multiple attempts to figure it out and then it's now a problem I would definitely include those with any correspondence you have on this.

Now that you mention it, where exactly does it leak? That would be very useful info

Nothing recorded on the old service papers, and no details on the latest papers as to the exact location of the leak.
I'm pissed at myself for not pushing the point the first time, but IIRC there were time and schedule issues in our lives at that time. |
