Back in reality though, a weak government (i.e. parliamentary nos.) has been forced to be weak by being defeated on motions to 'take no deal off the table' and 'request an extension'. It's all a bit of a balls up really.
At 5 to midnight on the 29th it’ll be 55 minutes too late!

I'm sorry, I wasn't aware we had a choice of just keeping the things we want and leaving what we don't.

Must've missed that on the voting slip. Arrogance from the start to think we can just have our cake and eat it.

Hasn't worked out very well so far has it.
This is so true. Let's just cancel the damn thing and start again.

We are an absolute embarrassment at the moment with the indecision in parliament.

I say another referendum with May's deal or remain as options.

Those that say leave with no deal need to have some serious words with themselves.

Well we didn't get asked about quite a few options, that was my point. And we don't know if the public would have preferred membership of EEC to EU as it wasn't an option. And we don't know if the EU would have approved of that option (free movement if people and goods, no doubt a financial contribution to achieve that...) because we didn't ask...

The arrogance is un deciding that every option that could be described as "leaving the EU " is stupid...

And no not going too well - but it wasn't from the day the question was set, once it was a clear black and white, all or nothing, it was going to be difficult. Bad politics from day 1....

Actually we did try and ask to keep the things we wanted and get rid of the rest. As Wills said, even before asking, we had a lot more special treatment than any other member state.

Because we're so much more important than anyone else.

We then asked for even more, they said no funnily enough.

We then tried again in our negotiations, went well there too.

Joke.

To be fair it was always made clear which bits we could or could not choose to stay in, and the consequences of such decisions. Whether people chose to listen is another thing.

My favourite Brexit quote remains the one from the Luxembourg PM who summed up the studity of Brexit in two sentences.

"They were in with a load of opt-outs. Now they are out, and want a load of opt-ins.”

Just read an article linked to the PM suggesting a short extension.

It then said that we might not get it as other states are growing tired of Brexit. I can understand that. Very big little likelihood of no deal and straight out in my opinion.

We've brought it on ourselves.

If I were the EU, I'd be saying, either extend for another referendum. Take the offered deal. Or fuck off. No other options. Fed up of our self importance.

Looks like there are some magic documents agreed in Strasbourg that will be added to the deal so it can be bought back for a 3rd time.
Funny these have been kept quiet up until now and I'm guessing can be seen as more of a concession or re assurance from the EU.
If so then its true to form from EU wait until last minute then whip something out of the back pocket.

I think EU will agree to short delay IF the vote gets approved. If it doesn't then I think we will go back urgently to EU requesting long delay and they will say minimum of 2 yrs or something in which case May or who ever is PM then will agree and that will be game over.

If we get another referendum we should just let the Scottish do it for us. They know which way to vote when a stupid idea is put in front of them.

55% voted to stay united with the rest of the UK and Brexit......

Macron is now saying 'Non' to the June extension. Can understand Macron's point of view. However, he's unintentionally pandering to the swivel-eyed loonies on the Tory right who'd like nothing more than a no deal exit. All we need now is for Trump to wade in... oh, hang on a minute..!!

Previously the EU had said that the only reason for an extension would be for another referendum or something similarly significant. Not just to faff around a bit more.

As a country we really have very little self awareness. Traditionally we do not suffer fools easily. So if another country, France for example, was behaving like this, can anyone see us having patience or empathy? I can't.

Tusk upped the game, we can have an extension if they pass May's deal next week or it no extension hence no deal.

They might have to just revoke article 50 and have a rethink!

I think it's an eminently sensible position, for both sides. It is time for us to put or shut up and the MPs need to stop with the farcical passive aggressive approach to finding a solution, and this ought to do the trick.
