BMW is starting to worry me these days... the new 1 series looks like a toad, the new 3 series has a fucked up front with the joining kidney grills and headlight plus the new piece in front the hood, scrawnier looking exhaust pipes (nissan maxima quality) on the new generation of cars (i.e f30 335 w/msport), dizzying interior schemes (the new f30 3er, specidfically the pop up navi, the colors on the interior trim, the lack of a single wood/trim peice running acoross the dash, the AC vents are not thought out well, cupholder next to the ashtray? are you serious? the fucking condensation from the drink can drop on my cherry and out she goes.
fuckin poorly thought out. I wanna smack the designers of the new 3er in the head. long story short, Bring Bangle Back.

I have no problem with a M4 GC being $80K fully loaded, same as a CLS550 because then its just a choice of more sports car handling over size/luxury, but if it goes north of that, it even starts getting into M5 territory, do they really want a M4 GC and M5 to be $5K apart, especially since the M5 will have 100 more horsepower and a V8! |

This is the "smaller" gran coupe, and its looks great! When you realize the 6er GC is a very very large and heavy car, you can understand why BMW would take the design cues but make a sporty, midsize version. I'll go for the F30 Msport for the first few years, then get the 4GC in M guise in a few more years, not a bad line up for the half a decade!

I point this out, because when you then see that the new 650 GC is like $5K+ more (than the 2door 6er)based on the pricing in germany, so there is clearly a prescedent that regardless of the model and perceived logical pricing, that BMW has their own thoughts and are marketing different cars in different ways. I cant see the M4 GC being less costly than today's e93 M3, so Id argue that sure, loaded it could easily be $90K+ in a year or two when it actually comes out...And guess what, if its more agile, less hefty, it may well give the M5 a run for its money cause that thing is a BOAT! A very very fast speedboat, but a BOAT for sure time will tell

Audi is attempting to cover the four door coupe segment with what is actually a 5 door fastback with a hatch, rather than offering two distinct models like BMW is doing. Time will tell whose approach proves more successful, but I like BMW's better at this point. Despite the frumpiness of the 5 GT, I think the 3 GT will be a real looker. And, despite the great looks of the Audi A7, I think it would look even better with a proper coupe notchback and trunk. The 6GC and now the 4GC look great, and would be spoiled by a 5 door configuration IMHO. |

I liked the e36-> e46. Loved the e46-> e90/92. But really hate this render.
The front bumper looks like a Hyundai Genesis Coupe. I really hope BMW doesn't do what Acura did to the TL...

That's a great looking render. I'm not a big fan of the exposed grille touching the inside edge of the headlight on the new 3, but on this Gran Coupe render, that same styling cue works great. The headlight on the render appears to have a more aggressive shape compared to the "pinched off" look of the headlights on the new 3.

I love BMW cars, have had a few Ms in the past and have a new X3 now, but their pricing is starting to get insane. I remember not too long ago Mercedes cost a little more than BMW and it was because they were the "luxury" brand and BMW the "sports" brand. Then they started costing about the same so it was just a choice, luxury or sport, now BMW is costing more, and not just a little more but a lot more...
Lets compare BMW M5 = ~$93K-95K starting? this is what everyone is thinking Merc E63 = $89K BMW 650i GC = $88K (based on 650i coupe plus $5K for GC version) Merc CLS550 = $71K BMW M6 GC= $110-$115K (based on a 650i costing $20K more than a 550i, so a M6GC will probably be $20K more than a M5) Merc CLS63 = $95K ($102K with performance package giving it 550 HP 590 torque) One could argue that the price difference between the E63 and M5 is pretty small (especially if the E63 needs the performance package to match the 0-60 time of the M5, which will inflate the price past an M5) but these cars may also come optioned differently. The big difference as you can see is in the 4 door coupes, the CLS styling isn't for everyone (either is the Gran Coupe) but a $17K difference between them with the same performance, in fact the CLS550 is rated 0-60 in 4.2 by C&D (yeah I know) they tested the 650i at 4.5 seconds, thats a pretty large gap! Now are they planning these crazy price differences for the 4 series Gran Coupe as well? is it going to cost $10K more than a 3 sedan? all for styling? If it was a little longer (say 2-3 more inches rear legroom) and nicer interior upgrades I would understand, but I doubt that will happen. |

Interesting. So will the F32 4-series GC will have less interior space than the F30 3-series sedan, or will it slot in exactly between the F30 and the F10 in terms of length and interior space?
For E90 M3 owners who plan on upgrading to the next-generation M3 sedan, I'll be interested to see who opts for the F80 vs. the F82 GC.

So they will have two 4-door versions of the 3 series -- or will this be a 4-door version of the coupe, which I thought was the sedan...Im confused...

5 - sedan, touring, GT 6 - coupe, cabrio, GC You can apply the same pattern to the 3 and 4 series, and at least partially, to the 1 and 2 series (no 1 series sedan or touring, at least not for this generation). |
