BimmerCode or Carly?

Hi there

I am interested in buying an OBD BT adapter to code and possibly running diagnostics on my F30. I do have an ENET cable and I use E-sys to code a lot but I wanted to try some light coding and if possible diganostics as well.

Am I correct in understanding that the Carly app only works with their own adapters, unlike BimmerCode? And is the BimmerCode 27 GBP price a permanent one while Carly's price is a yearly subscription?

I am debating between them. I found one of the adapters listed on BimmerCode's website on Amazon for around 24 GBP which is a good deal, but is going the Carly route worth the extra 15 or so pounds?

And lastly, would you go for a Wi-Fi or a Bluetooth adapter for the BimmerCode route?

Thank you guys

Bimmercode is only for coding, not for diag. You can install the apk and press demo mode to see what you can do.

I vote for BimmerCode.

Dont forget - there is a sister app called BimmerLink that can read and clear trouble codes, monitor sensor levels, control the exhaust flap and more.

I have the Vgate iCar 3 WiFi and it works flawlessly.

I have been debating between the iCar PRO BT and Wi-Fi versions and also considering the iCar 3 Wi-Fi.. I honestly don't know which one to buy.

I honestly dont think you can go wrong with any of those. When I bought mine, it was the newest model. I believe BimmerCode recommended WiFi at that time for whatever reason. Buying the Pro model definitely wouldn't hurt and may even have better data transfer speeds.

So far my Vgate iCar 3 WiFi has not failed so I have no reason to upgrade.

+1 I also use the BimmerCode/Link but with Bluetooth

It's done everything I have wanted to do without a problem. I am happy with it so far!

I used bimmercode with the icar pro bluetooth v4 adapter. Its the recommended one now and makes much more sense than wifi. Flawless experience, I highly recommend

I have both and each have their strong point. BimmerCode is only for coding. It has the ability to code values that are not in the preselected list of coding items in expert mode. Carly doesn’t have the expert mode and can only code what is preselected, but it has more functions other than coding(reading codes/reset service reminders/live view of sensor reading/battery registration).

Try TorquePro and Realtime Charts for logging and code reading/clearing + real time boost/ignition/etc reading
