Black Friday GoPro

so John Lewis had great deal on the hero black 8 plus accessories for 329.

I had the original but rarely used it because downloading to pc was a pain and editing just seemed to be quite onerous.
jump forward 10 years and looks like you can now send content straight to phone or tablet do a quick edit and share the video.
I'm skiing at new year so I'd like to be up to speed on editing when I get there.
The go pro free software seems ok when i look online based on what folks say. Anyone got real world experience to give advice to a beginner.
would anyone recommend anything else thats free. I'm an android and pc person.
I'm guessing i want product to do quick edits on phone when away and a free pc based one for things a bit more fancy? Not sure if I'll take laptop or not.

Why not save a shed load and get one of these ?

I'm very happy with the recordings.

They are good watsey but the go pro really have hit the nail on the head with the 7 & 8 with the image stabilization.

When i got my drone i used to hate the footage from the old hero 4 i had, and never really used it outwith the in car racecar footage i needed. But the new image stabilization is honestly mega! A £200 gimble only just beats it imo!

I got my hero 8 in the trade up program, old camera i bought 8 odd years ago that i hadn't used in about 7 years knocked £100 off the hero 8 so £280 for it was a no brainier!

So you reckon the image stabilization has almost removed the need a gimbal?

well that's cool.
I've watched a few comparison videos and it does look like it's very good without a gimbal.
that's saved me a couple of hundred quid!!!

What software do you use for editing?

adobe premiere elements is what im using, used to use the old go pro studio i think it was called? Really good but they updated it and then it wouldnt work with 3rd party files, which was a pain when i wanted to add in some drone footage from my mavic

APE isnt a simple program, iv been using it on and off for about a year now and im only just starting to get the same results as i did with go pro studio, but like everything its just getting used to it!
