BMW of Denver has brake flush for $110. BMW logo cabin air filter is $40 online, and 15 minutes DIY. BMW logo engine air filter is $5 online, and 5 minutes DIY. No info about diesel fuel filter. BTW, dealer service now has $25 rebate on oil change, and $50 for non-oil service, make use of those rebates!!! |

$95for 4-cylinder including tax is not bad, esp. since BMW gives $25 rebate, so net cost is $70 and an hour at dealer checking out new cars.
The best for 5L of BMW 0W30 plus oil filter is probably $60-ish, either online or at dealer, so the cost savings DIY is not much. And BMW 0W30 is great, the engine is quieter and smoother than with BMW 5W30!!! |

When my car was under warranty with maintenance I had them change the oil a couple times because they break it they fix it--and one time they did have to fix a tear in the interior.

You'd know if they did an oil change by pulling the oil filter to see the oil condition. That's not an option with the average car that uses a canister filter, but it's simple with BMW. On that subject, two cars ago I had a Mercury Cougar that so successfully hid the oil filter it took me an hour to find it the first time I changed it. My next, an Altima, teased me, because I could see the filter but I couldn't reach it without pulling a wheel and then loosening the wheel well shield. The BMW filter is so fast and simple to change that I change my filter twice a year, even though I only change the oil yearly.
As for dealer oil change service, mine did scratch my fender near the hood. It looked like the mechanic leaned over it wearing a belt buckle with barbed wire trim. The last maintenance agreement oil change I had them do is the last time anyone will change my oil other than me. It also ensures that it gets MolyGen plus Ceratec, which within 500 miles of putting in gave me 2MPG more than I had been getting with BMW oil. |

The dealer prices were not bad, e.g. brake flush + coolant flush + oil change for $395(tax included), then $25 rebate for oil change, and $50 rebate for non-oil, for $320 total. It is true DIY can save, say, $220 of labor, but paying $220 did save 3-4 hours of work, right? |
