335i f30 Foglight Upgrade Options

Would love to run led's but don't want to have to code out the warm/cold check etc to prevent blinking. Is there a much brighter halogen bulb? Anyone put a yellow film over them to reduce glare? I have found new led housings to replace factory housings but am not sure about the coding? What's the best upgrade consensus? Thanks

I ran some 65w H9 halogens in mine for a while, it was an improvement over the stock 35w H8, but still came up short big time compared to LED. Coding isn't difficult, and with all the other things you can code you'll kick yourself in the ass for not doing it sooner.

What LEDs are you running for fogs? I have been thinking about updating my fog bulbs.

Thanks!

I would avoid bulbs that don't come with a drive ballast and those that have cooling fans.

OMFG too many choices even staying in the same brand.. they have like Nth models that seem to fit, and then looking them there is always marked a "newer" version!

Did you read my linked thread? The ones I used aren't currently available, but as I said you can search out and find the exact same product sold under various brand names.

Anyone try a yellow laminex film over them? Seems it would be a good upgrade especially with led's

Coding off the warm/cold monitoring is extremely easy with Bimmercode plus you can use it to code additional functions to the car that you may find worthwhile. But you will need an bt obd dongle to connect to the car.

Anyway, I have these led fog lights: BEAMTECH H8 Led Fog Light Bulb, CSP Chips 6500K 800 Lumens Xenon White Extremely Super Bright https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075MWXVDQ..._rYQfDb34JKZWS

They are pure white and much brighter than the stock halogens.

I appreciate that.. in a blizzard of choices, I got these. Pretty cheap, if I dont like them I will swap out for something else.

Getting rid of the yellowish color of halogens in favor of a whiter color is one of the reasons to go to LED. Yellow light does make it easier to see in foggy conditions, so if that's the only time you use them then it's worthwhile. I use mine all the time, and if it's not foggy yellow makes it harder to see.

You may have glare problems with those, because of the forward facing elements. If you look at halogen bulbs they're blacked out on the front of the bulb, so that the beam pattern is controlled by the lamp reflector. They don't have ballasts either, which may be a problem. The lack of heat sinking probably indicates that they're low power as well.

These were referenced in my thread, post #71:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3294...AbTest=ae803_4

There's at least eight different outfits at AliExpress selling these, though not all sell the H8 base version.

Good point so cancelled that order as it hadn't processed yet.

Back to looking at these.. no front light, no fan and includes ballasts.

I don't see any ballasts. They're included with the bulbs I linked. Scroll down the page to see them.
