Bmw F30 N20/ N26

Hey y'all, I been wanting to get an ER catted downpipe, but I also want to install a tune at the same time... I was wondering since I have a 2015 320i, what is the best stage 1 tune I can buy to get rid of the CEL? And would I have to install other parts so I don't have problems with the car? My warranty is up soon so I don't want to have major problems.

If you're getting a higher-flowing DP you want stage 2 not stage 1. You should also get an FMIC while you're at it. I always recommend pairing a DP with an FMIC for a proper stage 2 setup. Best tuning option in my opinion is bootmod3.

^sound advice.

Just making sure you meant catted and not catless?

A good high flow catted downpipe should not produce CEL. They are also close to a grand per unit.

What would be the point of a catted down pipe that caused a CEL?

What am I missing?

Most people do it to curb the catless smell I believe. I suppose it's a bit quieter as well.

Or get catless - right angle 4 inch O2 sensor spacer, that will keep you from getting a cel. If you’re gonna go to all the effort of a downpipe may as well go catless. Yes mine has a smell, but I don’t mind it.

Can you post a link or part number of exactly what spacer you are using?

How many miles have you been CEL free since using a spacer?

BMW F30 N26 Tune

Hey guys, looking for some help. I want to tune my car but I don't know where to start. I bought an Injen Air Intake, but have not installed it. My car is a 2013 BMW 328i xDrive n26 motor, it is bone stock. I am thinking about the JB+ tune but I'm not sure if I need to add engine mods to it, such as a down pipe or exhaust system. Please help me out understand what needs to be done or if I can just plug the JB+ tune in without engine mods. I want something that is easy and doesn't need work done to the engine. I would really appreciate the help!

Also looking to buy an AWE Touring Edition Axel-Back exhaust system. Need opinions and help as far as the tune goes.

Thanks, Dom

In my case I started with a downpipe. But you can start with a JB+ for sure. Once you cruise around with it on you'll want to do something else, so then maybe go downpipe. Building your car piece by piece is a lot of fun.

Yeah of course! There's one question though.. I might be doing a lot of long distance driving once or twice every two months, would that aftermarket down pipe and tune affect the car in any way versus it being stock?

I do 150 mile trips fairly regularly (going to and from school) in my car, for which the mods are listed in my signature, and they don't give me any problems. You'll be fine.

What sort of MPG do you achieve at say... 75MPH with the cruise control on?

Over the course of a trip, not a spot number.

I've never tracked the mpg on a trip and when I'm cruising open PA highways on my way to or from school, I'm not doing 75mph with cruise control on lol. But my avg. mpg is 25.3 mpg, I'd say 70% city all in sport, if that's worth anything to you. The next time I hit the highway for a long period of time, I can track my mpg on that trip for ya...

Ok thanks, that would be nice. Im interested to see what an FBO N20 running Bootmod3 stage 2 flash tune what get on the highway when actually trying to get good MPG.

Same setup without a tune and Im getting this with average mixed driving.

Have not burned an entire tank on the highway since I started tracking but I figure Id get at least 33mpg going 75mph (over the course of 15 gallons).
