330d Ppk 210kw 600nm
Right I got an email today with prices of the 330D powerkit. Not sure what it all means but it goes something like this:
Cost of kit (supplied at cost apparently) £950 (includes replacement ECU and larger intercooler) Fitting for cars with SA2NH or SZ1PA........£261.00 plus VAT (£313.20)
Fitting for cars without 2NH or 1PA ..........£391.50 plus VAT (£469.80)
Presumably, there will be your old intercooler spare which you can sell on ebay to recoupe a few dollars, and whatever is in the kit in terms of brakes, or the old ones off your car, depending on what is done to upgrade them. (Wishful thinking is you get the front calipers and discs ala US 335i (unpainted M Sports), but for £950 I doubt it. ) I am not sure whether the £950 includes VAT or not, but I am told it is the cost price. Will find out tomorrow. I am also unsure what exactly is done to the brakes on non 2NH (M Sport brakes) SZ1PA (M Performance brakes) cars, but am assuming there are brake upgrade parts in the kit....again will ask the question. Full warranty stays intact, and no issue with BMW finance should that be applicable. They are notified, but no different from any accessory upgrade. The above prices are what my dealer will do for me as a one off. For anyone still interested after hearing the prices please let me know, I'll see what we can squeeze on the fitting costs and it helps to have numbers Provided the £950 includes vat, I am a definite |

I think it is brake option dependant only. I did ask whether Euro 5 is different to Euro 6 kit, hopefully will find out soon. If you have the blue brakes it is the cheaper fitting price, if you don't they upgrade the brakes to an 'HP' level, whatever that means You know you want it 283 rampant Bavarian horses, and a 40Nm increase almost through out the rev range |

No blue brakes, I think, so I may have to pay more. That's ok.

I did ask about 328i and 320d so we could max out a GB. He said nothing available for 320d, but didn't say anything about 328i PPK. I'll ask.

If that first price is 'just' the powerkit (no brake tomfoolery) then I'd say there's still some wriggle room NISFAN. The hardware for the BMW powerkits are similar regardless of the car so for example the one for the E90/91 LCI consisted of intercooler, fan, ECU etc etc with similar labour much like this one. I managed to get Sytner Sheffield down to about £1150 including VAT. |

...and yes the £950 is apparently the cost price, it should be £1200, IIRC, they are only charging labour to fit. |

My next port of call. I am a little fortunate that it will be fitted from new. I am hoping it will be like my Prodrive kit on my Subaru Sti, it made no difference to insurance rates as it was a dealer fitted option.

Thanks mate for finding this out. It would be good to know why with the standard brakes that came on the M-Sport we have to pay more and what we get extra for that.

Was in at BMW today and talked to the parts guy.
They are going to confirm, but it sounds like there are 2 kits depending on brake option fitted to car. There are also two options dependant on Euro5 or Euro6 (March 2013 onwards) variants. I have ordered mine, £950 for the kit and £313.20 fitting including VAT. I get my old intercooler back to peddle on ebay. I asked whether the brake upgrade was mandatory. Parts didn't see why it should be, so based on this you might skip the brake upgraded option and just fit the cheaper kit. Although thinking about it, I wonder whether the ECU reflash will set parameters to 'upgraded' brake option as standard???? They are going to get me prices for the other kit, but they believe it is the same kit but comes with an additional brake upgrade which includes new front calipers, discs and pads, similar to M Sport. Not blue. This is strange to me as the 300+ hp 335i has the same brakes as 330d. What would help is if someone could PM me a VIN on a standard brake optioned 330d. The VIN reveals all to the parts guy. Both Euro 5 and Euro 6 would help please Whilst at it, if anyone is interested in any M Performance parts, my dealer is willing to discount on numbers. They confirmed there is a kit for 320d non ED versions, which improves 0-62 by about 0.3 seconds. Price to be confirmed. EDIT: Forgot to mention, for those far from Bedford, you can buy the kit/parts and get them fitted locally is you so desire. |

For standard M-Sport model cars like mine if the kit includes new front calipers, discs and pads then wouldn't it be hundreds more? They are not cheap parts.

Hi Richard
Sorry if I wasn't clear, but it seems you 'need' two kits for standard braked cars, the powerkit and a brake upgrade kit (HP brake kit). I was wrong in thinking the brake upgrade was part of the kit (I think???), the kit mentions HP brake upgrade but no further clarity. The parts manager is looking into it to confirm. What would clarify things is a VIN (standard brakes) which I have (thanks rich1068) so hopefully an update due soon. I did ask whether the brake upgrade was mandatory. I'm sure most would be happy with their standard brakes, after all it is not about the engine power, but weight of car and how you drive it. Two contradictions, xDrive 330d's weight 100kg more and yet have the same standard brakes, and the 335i has over 300bhp and also uses standard brakes in Europe. So not sure why the standard brakes are not good enough on a mild tune 330d Bear with me, I will get to the bottom of this.....good news is there was a hint of more discount if numbers were good. I have already ordered so that's me out, but hopefully will be counted as a number for others |
