With a 120" wheelbase that's going to be one smooth riding high speed cruiser. Looks like they're after the Panamera market at a much lower price.

I like it. Looks like a more luxurious and spacious version of a 3GT (resembles 3GT more than 5GT).

It is the 5GT, re-designed and re-named. They probably figured that the bad press about the 5GT was insurmountable, so rather than calling it the new 5GT they abandoned that model designation entirely.
Predictably the auto press wags have already panned it because it's a hatchback, even though not one of them have seen it in person, let alone driven it. They just don't get it, probably never will. I'd put in my order tomorrow except that I've only put 10,000 miles on my 328GT thus far.

shouldnt it be a GC, not GT? 3/5/(7?) should be GTs, (2?)/4/6 should be GC...

It looks identical to the 3GT. Besides a few inches and an upgraded interior is it worth a 20k premium? Also its slower than a 340.

You could say the same for going from 3 to 5 and from 5 to 7 series sedans.

It's faster than the 328GT, and I don't find mine lacking. The price isn't out of line with the Audi A7 Sportback.

My last one was a 328GT and i found it sluggish. We all have our own driving style. Im just saying for a 20k premium i dont think its worth the interior upgrade. Wait and see it in person.

I dont think the sedans look anything alike. The new 5 does look more like the 7 but you can see substantial differences in those cars. This new GT doesnt look mush different than the current 3GT and they are almost the same size.

I agree that the sedans don't look alike. Which is what I said. The 3GT and 6GT are not alike. As per your original comment, they don't just differ by 'few inches'. 6GT is significantly longer and of course, comes with luxury features, which makes 20K a valid premium over 3GT. Just like the premium of 5 series over 3 series sedan.

FYI, 6GT is a good 11 inches longer, 3 inches wider, and 1 inch taller than 3GT. That is not insignificant by any measure.

With that said, I hope they don't phase out the 6 series gran coupe. That thing is sexy.

The interior space is almost identical to the 3GT. If the car is bigger but the interior space is the same i dont think its a benefit. I checked the specs headroom, legroom front and rear is virtually identical. I like the way it looks and i like the interior. Im just saying i dont know if the premium price is justified for me. I agree the GC is slick but i think they are replacing it with this.

Not really. Head and legroom are about the same, but since it's enough in the 3 it's enough in the 6. Shoulder room is wider, the rear seat should actually be wide enough for 3 adults now, and the trunk is larger. IF you delve into the specs it's obvious that it's built on the same 120.9 inch wheelbase platform as the 5GT, with the major difference being the overall length, 200.9 inches for the 6 versus 197.1 inches for the 5. Two of those additional inches are on the rear overhang, making for a better looking rear window slope than the 5.
I've seen a couple of 5GTs, and they are much nicer than the 3GT inside. $20k nicer? I suppose if you can afford that extra $20k you're a lot more likely to think so than if you can't.

Follow up. I just sat in a fully loaded 640 GT Msport. The interior is gorgeous. I take back what i said about the price premium over the 3GT. If the leases look good next year when my car is up the 6GT is at the top of my list.
One thing to add the car didnt have an msport steering wheel. Had a sport wheel that i do not like. I understand there is some type of supply issue with msport wheels.

Yes! That’s one of the reasons why I can’t take my eyes of this car. I can’t wait to upgrade. BTW—its worth it.😊

Very true. That’s the thing about some BMW models. They ALWAYS look better in person ☺️👀😎 ..... this model just happens to be one of them! Nevertheless, I still think it’s worth it! I currently have an F34 that I love. Can’t wait to upgrade📸
