Windshield Wipers Chattering
Hey guys,
Has anyone had wobbling or chattering wipers regardless of new or broken in? I am having this problem with my F31 and its become annoying. I've tried cleaning the windshield, even with a razor blade at a low angle and the blades are still wobbly. Has anyone tried a windshied sealer that actually works? Any tips or remedies would be greatly appriceciated.

I don't know about a windshield sealer, but I polish mine yearly with cerium oxide and a buffer. Then I apply Aquapel, which is by far the best rain repellent. If the blades start to chatter I clean them with alcohol.

Thanks for the tip. Where are you buying cerium oxide?

Don't bother with small buffing pads, they'll take a week to do a windshield. I use a 6" pad, like this: https://www.amazon.com/Meguiars-DMX6...omotive&sr=1-7 It takes an aggressive pad because cerium oxide has minimal cutting, to prevent scratching the glass. |

When you use cerium oxide cover everything with old sheets. Even when wet it's so light that it's as light as dust and will go everywhere, and it's a PITA to get off paint.

I do change my own oil, tire rotations and other maintenance items....so you don't think I'm a complete squid.

It's almost impossible to screw up with cerium oxide, because the polishing process is very slow. It's not like rubbing out with paint, where you can go through the finish in just seconds. The only way you can run into a problem is if you try to polish out a deep scratch. To do so you'd end up overheating the glass, causing it to warp.

Just out of curiosity how old are your wipers and have the been changed recently ? With that being said I have found P&S beadmaker works well for me usually after every maintenance wash I spray the windshield down with it work it in see you later. Seems to hold up well between washes some rainy days I don't even need to run my wipers it beads so well.

Cerium Oxide is the nuclear option for windshields btw.
Maybe try something 'softer' like this: https://www.1z-usa.com/glass-polish-6-8-oz/ I applied mine with a porter cable and red lake country pad, it totally eliminated hazy marks and waxy deposits left by the dealer that was causing squeak. Did the mirrors, windscreen, rear glass and sunroof. |
