idrive Control Knob Touch Up

Has anyone had any success with touching up the knob that controls idrive with paint or anything? Mine is scratched to hell (see picture). If so can you point me towards a paint and maybe a method of touching it up.

If not, is there a cheap aftermarket replacement? I am selling the car and I just want something that makes it look decent.

I was going to say I'm sure you could find a decent used one on eBay but it looks like all the ones that are your style are really scratched up. Must be a manufacturing issue with that version of the iDrive controller.

Here's the best one I could find for $45 (but $19 for shipping from Spain).

Thanks for that. I might keep looking for one one eBay etc but if I could find a cheap paint it might do the trick for atleast what I’m working for. Hell even hitting it with a permanent marker will make it look better than its current state (maybe).

I would think an enamel paint, something durable. Go to your local crafts store and ask them for a tough paint that resists chipping and scratching. Tell them what kind of material it's covering and they'll sort you out.

I can't tell from your picture what you want to replace, but I can say that you don't have to buy a compete controller. One or more of these options should do.
