$300-$400 per body panel/piece is what I think is about fair for quotes from a shop that is on the higher end.

I wanted to get my front Msport bumper re painted because of rock chips and license plate holes. I was quoted 550 out the door by a very reputable shop in Fairlawn NJ.

If you're out on Long Island, yes! I may know people depending on where you are

Thats is definitely on the low side. Not unheard of....but thats a very aggressive discount

(Again, this varies greatly depending where in the country)

I got quoted 7~800 to get my front M3 style bumper repainted (lots of chips due to original paint being shit) with mineral white metallic.

Are you guys quoting removal/install also or just carry in/carry out?
(That's almost $150 differential in pricing)

Removal/install as well in the 7~800 quote for me. And including I guess prep work. Unsure what they actually mean by prep and if they would strip the current paint then prep or anything though.

Prepping entails, wax and grease removal of all foreign substances first. Sanding out stone chips, or blemishes as needed. Any dent/gouge repairs then priming affected areas. After priming it needs to be flat sanded to be even with the original paint work and then will need to have clear scuffed for adhesion.
Reclean again
Adhesion promoter applied (case by case)
-prep switches to paint here-
Base coat applied (with flex additive for all plastic parts or hoods for stone chip deterrent and not flaking off when parts "flex")
Clear coat applied and baked

Thats the short version

$600 included removal of old bumper, prep and paint new bumper, and install new bumper.

Are you going aftermarket or OEM?

Damn, mines actually in the shop getting f80 front bumper and Msport rear bumper as well as my left quarter panel getting pulled out a bit due to an accident. They charged me less than 1500!! Down south west Texas. About $1k for both front and rear bumper, then the $1500 for labor
