Tire Diameter for RWD

after researching it is a bit unclear to me if overall tire diameter matters on RWD car?

the setup that I have recently switched to is 235/35/19 and 255/35/19 on 8.5j square wheel which results in 2.2% taller back tire.

My question is does it matter that the circumference difference is above 1% on RWD? Is it safe to ride on this setup or should I be looking at a 245 front tire or just go back to my OEM setup?

some clarification would be great.
