Designer prescription sunglasses
Wanting to get a set of designer prescription sunglasses maybe Oakley or Ray Ban. Was in Specsavers today so have my prescription ok but their range was very non exciting.
Anyone else bought online and can recommend a place. Also an idea of cost would be good. Don't want to go mad as I won't wear them a lot. Assume polarised lenses are what I need as I will use them driving. |

Polarised OK unless you have the HUD, as it will dim that at best or make it nigh invisible at worst. |

The trick with polarised and the HUD is to very slightly rotate the HUD (via iDrive HUD settings). This will 'unphase' the lines displayed from the glasses and it can be viewed ok. The rotation only needs to be very small too so even without polarised glasses, it doesn't look wonky.

Yes have seen some fitting either their own lenses or the original lenses. Is there likely to be a massive difference? I don't wear my shades a lot so don't want to dump a load of money and just really want a decent looking pair of sunglasses.

I got my frame from Oakley and got Vision Express to put Oakley prescription lenses in - I preferred the Oakley tints etc, not sure if it was possible to put in non-O lenses but I wouldn't have done that anyway.

Specsuperstore on line - they generally have 15-20% off everything every month or two between
I used a few times and very good - only downside is you order and pay for all frames you want to try on with plain lenses and send them all back and they put in prescription lenses for FREE! Very easy though - they even give you a return label paid up when you call them up. Exchange took only a week or so to send and receive Just bought a pair of Oakley frogskin with prescription lenses for about £70 all in. They have anti reflective coating but I think polarised would be more - fine though I also get my daily glasses there and always have rayban wayfarers and the like and they are always fine too - although for daily's I get thinner lenses and stuff which comes as extra. Frames are about £85-90 for wayfarers without discount - thinnest lenses about another £50 on top I found this route almost half the price of boots |
