Whats with new rear badge positions?

Colleague at work has picked up their new A Class, and noticed the rear badge is at the lower part of the boot lid now.

Courtesy of Google:

Since spotting that ive noticed a few other new models seem to be going this route - moving the rear badge from a previously higher position to lower down in the boot lid.... such as the New Fiesta and Focus.

Looks very Audi A3!

Whats caused this new trend? Styling wise I think the A Class looks strange with the badge so low down.

Badge position is the last thing that would worry me if an A-Class had landed in my drive

I saw the new A class on the road and thought it was an Astra

Had to double take at the thing!

The front grill is ugly! Neighbour went from an A45 to an A180 then to an old E class he said it was better in every way.

About time Alpina moved their badges, they just look way over sized and take up sooo much space on the top of a boot lid !!

Need to make them smaller though....

You can easily remove them if you don't like them
