Best time of the year to lease?
I'm looking to get out of my 2012 328i Sport lease (almost 1 year old) and jump into a 2014 335i.
When do you guys think would be the best time for this move? Should I do it now or wait for December? Does December has the best lease deals of the year?

The lease rates now are not very good. Typically, November is when the holiday incentives start and go through Jan 1st (31st?). Usually the holiday incentives are pretty good because BMW is trying to move cars before the end of the year. Since they'll want to show y/y growth compared to last year, you can imagine that the incentives will probably be pretty similar.
If you are ordering a car, it's probably best to put in the order sometime in early October to ensure that it gets delivered within the Nov-Dec window. You will be able to accept the lease rates during the month you take delivery, if they are better than the rates when you placed the order. If you are willing to pick up a car on the lot, waiting until November is probably your best bet. |

If I want to order in December, can I lock in the rates / incentives? Or the rule is that whatever rates/incentives are when the car is delivered, that's what you're going to pay?

You can lock in rates the month you place the order and first get approval, but I believe they are only good for 90 days. So, if it takes longer than that to get your car (highly unlikely), you would have to take rates @ delivery. You always have the option to take the delivery rates anyway, if they are better. But, I think in this case, the main thing you would need to confirm is whether or not the holiday credits could be locked as well. I vaguely remember last year that people were worried that they might not be able to take delivery before the credits expired. They might have a hard deadline like the Ultimate Drive incentive did.
Lots of speculation.. but if you place the order in October or November, you should have nothing to worry about. |

Yes, either Swapalease or most probably Craigslist. That's where I got the lease in the first place, when it was 2-months old. My monthly rate is $470 w/ nothing down, 12k. The original owner got an excellent deal.
