Required Torque value for 328i wheel bolt?

Does anyone know the required torque value for wheel bolts on a 2013 328i? I'm putting on my winter wheels this weekend for the first time.

103lbs for F3x

88lbs for E9X

I am sure you're going to get different answers, even from BMW dealers. You can always do 90-92 as a compromise. I do mine with such. I can say when the dealer did 103 at one time, my tire shop guy did find it a bit harder to turn the lug bolt because it was secured tightly.

A lot of misinformation out there on this. M14x1.25 lugs require 140 Nm, or about 103 ft/lbs.
90 ft/lbs is not a compromise, its wrong. No offense, bobblehead. Don't want those suckers coming loose.

I do 90. I had no idea it went up with the thicker bolts. Oops.

wow, I understand the importance, but I have been working on cars since I was 15 (15 years maybe more) and I have never used a torque wrench on a wheel nut and/or bolt. I just use a repeatable amount of force (pretty much my pulling strength upward) and have never had a problem with one coming loose or being over torqued.

This is more out of convenience and probably a bad habit. Just thought I would share my experience.

No offense man, but this is not good advice. Just because you haven't experienced a problem doesn't mean you or someone else won't. It's definitely worth the $40.

OP - the torque spec should be written in your manual under tire replacement. For my car, it is 90 ft-lb +/- 10 ft-lb. Make sure you re-torque after driving 50-100 miles. If you use spacers or aftermarket wheels with cone seat lugs, make sure you get *at least* 6 turns of thread engagement. Also with different lugs, make sure to spin the wheel to make sure the bolts aren't sticking out the back. Carry factory lugs if you have a spare tire. I like the ratcheting torque wrenches that click when you reach spec http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/Torq...nch/ES2221244/

Was in no way advice nor did I claim it to be. I said it was a bad habit. I have plenty of torque wrenches as well. Just sharing my experience so that if someone finds them self on the side of the road without a torque wrench, they shouldn't have a panic attack worrying that the wheels are going to fall off.

Well, yea, there are also people who have 5 kids in their minivan's riding on the boot going 80 MPH. I agree that it's a little over the top to carry a torque wrench everywhere, but you should only drive on the spare to the nearest tire shop or dealership. 90 ft-lbs isn't a ton of torque so I agree that short term you should be OK.

I've had a wheel come loose and start vibrating while driving on the HWY and it was some scary sh*t. Didn't know anything about cars at the time and the car was just worked on by a shop. They claimed that someone must have tried to steal the wheels while I was stopped...car was a POS 92 honda prelude with steel wheels and hub caps

New to this discussion, but this seems pretty damn important. I'm an accountant and 4 wheels minus 1 doesn't reconcile ;-P

Seems odd that a particular wheel would have anything to do with recommended torque since that's usually a function of the fastener/bolt being used.

I'd stay with the BMW factory wheel bolt torque unless you have some written explanation from the aftermarket wheel manufacturer why they recommend a different wheel bolt torque value on your BMW.
