Windscreen drainage channel anomaly

On my UK Spec (i.e. RHD) F36 there's a drainage hole cut out below the driver's side windscreen wiper arm attachment (see photos 1 and 2) which allows water to drain away into a channel in the engine bay.

On the passenger side the drain hole is marked, but not cut out, so water and dirt builds up (see photos 3 and 4).

I'm thinking about cutting a hole on the passenger side, but wondered if it not being cut out in the first place is a manufacturing mistake on my car, or whether they're all like this.

Yup, mine is the same way, although flipped cause mine is a US-Spec LHD. Annoying during car washes with the soap foam stuck there

Thanks Prak903. Exactly my experience. It's annoying and I can't see why it's been done like this.

Common that there is no drainage hole on the PS

Simply drill a 1/4" hole @ the lowest point of the cavity as you show it (Not where that embossed circle is). You can see where to drill so that water drains thru to the funnel area of plastic below that area that directs water down & out bottom of car
