Rusting under the driver and passenger seats.

I had found rust under both my drivers seat and passenger seat and was wondering if anyone else in Aus has taken it back to the dealer?

I told my SA about the issue and they have said that this is a new issue for them and they have asked BMW Australia about the issue. I know for sure this is a global issue, as I had the same issue with my F30 in Malaysia, and with them, they replaced it immediately.

It has been two weeks now with no reply and when I asked them for a reply a few days ago, they just told me "BMW Australia doesn't like to be pushed". I will be sending off an email to BMW Australia after this post.

damn, that's no good, when was your car build? I thought they had changed their seat supplier since the issue was found.

But yeah definitely push BMW Australia for a resolution

I reported mine to my dealer when my car was in for the steering column and rack replacement, and the seat bases were replaced. They also replaced the metal join between the seat base and the seat back as this was rusted too. There was no hassle, they just did it.

I refuse to duck my head and inspect for rust under my seats.

It would bother the crap out of me if I know there is rust and I will have to ask the dealer to fix it and when they do they would most likely scratch the car when they take the seats out and put them back in.

Better to leave things as they are. What I don't know won't hurt me.

It's been pretty much a worldwide issue with the seat manufacturer, Lear Corporation. Some dealers have polished the rust off and others have changed seat bases.
