Do you have a plan? I guess that's what I need before I start aimlessly throwing money at disc and pads.

Take the pads out, clean them and inside the calipers & the guide pins with brake cleaner & mini wire brushes, then use ceratec brake grease on all surfaces that come into contact with others.

If the squealing comes back then use some of this:

Looks a bit hard to get hold of that stuff. I have Ceratec on the back omy pads at the moment, although I have shims stuck to the back of them so I can't just the CRC stuff yet.

Yes it appears BDQ is hard to find now! Used to be easy to get on ebay for about £7 delivered!

I mention this problem to the dealer every time I have my summer wheels swapped to winters and vice versa. Each time they clean the brakes thoroughly, and the squeak goes away (for a time).

A15X is spot on. BMW have changed the pads for the blue brakes in an attempt to cure the squealing. The new pads are apparently slightly smaller. Local dealer explained this when I had my pads changed a couple of weeks ago. The good news is that they havenít squealed once since they were changed. The bad news is that there is now a slight clunk when braking during low speed manoeuvres. One step forward, two steps back...

I had new pads fitted that were supposed to cure the squealing. They still do, but not as much as the old ones.

Apparently its always recommended to replace the rotors and pads at the same time to avoid squeaking. After hitting 40k kms recently I have a slight squeak once in a while.

I think that might be a recommendation from someone with a vested interest in parting you from your money !
Ear defenders are very cheap, certainly much cheaper than a new set of pads and discs every 30k.....
