Dinan vs JB4

I just bought a 16 435i and went to install the jb4. Low and behold a dinan box. I'm debating if to stay with it or go with the jb4. Which will have more gains? I plan to go fbo. See pics below.

So I would connect to the DINAN app to see what stages you have on there. Any other visual mods installed. I’m currently running stage 4 DINAN. Lmk what stages you have to see what’s the best course of action.

JB4 will give you more power. I really like my Dinan setup, but if you're just looking for the most power you can get out of the car, go JB4.

I'm going to stick with dinan due to the reliability. Ordering intake and getting stage 2 installed tomorrow. I will eventually get the intercooler, downpipe and chargepipe. Hopefully by then stage 3 will be out.

You won't regret that choice. I would have crapped my pants if I found that in a newly purchased car!

As much as people gripe about price... my Dinan and ER setup has been rock solid. Fabspeed hjs cat DP just installed and after hundreds of miles still rock solid, no cel, etc.

Or go ahead, have fun with other solutions. Sometimes fixing things is part of the fun time journey.

If i was to do it all over, BM3 over anyJB eeeeeasily. BM3 really is the way to go imho if you love tinkering. Dinan is rock solid reliability, warranty, etc.

In the end have fun, its your car and am sure you'll enjoy the drive.

hey I just came across the same thing on my 328i I picked up 2 weeks ago, bought the car and couldnt get under the hood, cable was stretched too bad. I replaced the cable and finally get in the hood and see the dinan tuner with the stage 1 part number, I cant do anything on the iphone app though, keeps saying no tune selected. do you have to have an android?

I am not on android. You have to open the application, choose either b or 1. The application will ask you to enter the last four of the mac address.

I currently only have stage 1. I just ordered exhaust, intake and already have an appointment to get stage 2. I notice that stage 3 isnt out yet. Does anyone know how long it usually takes for them to come out with the software? I plan on getting downpipes, charge pipe and intercooler.

I actually just got off the phone with Dinan tech support and he told me that the App doesnt work with Apple IOS verison 11.3 or higher. I have an iphone 8 plus so the app doesnt work, guess I'm buying a cheap android tablet

IDK man. I'm using an iPhone X with the latest software and mine works.

Do you have an old iPod touch or anything like that laying around?

huh thats strange, and yeah we let my daughter use an old 5c we had from a few years ago. I'll try that.

I have an iPhone X as well and it works just fine.

Yeah idk, thats what the guy at Dinan told me, I'm just have to mess with it more. if I cant get it working on my phone I'll just use something else.

We offer both and if you plan on going FBO, JB4 is the better option.

Dinan doesn't, at least not the version for my car. I had to get that done separately.

I sent my ECU to an ECU coder in SoCal. Alex Alpine, I believe.

It worked, but now I will sometimes get a CEL as the computer gets upset with itself. It isn't related to anything real, though, so that's fine.
