The reviews for these headlights were one of the best on amazon and about 10 dollars cheaper than on amazon with the coupon for ebay, and they're direct from the company on ebay

This was a good deal

Are other drivers blinded? I thought the halogen housings couldn't "focus" the led beams and other drivers would be blinded...

My passenger side low beam went out yesterday and I have Silverstars coming today from Amazon for $33.99....this seems too good to be true. If it's legit I'm sending them back and getting the LED's!

Also, what about the amber turn signals? Did you change those as well?

Nope, the led light output is fine and they are bright, but not enough to blind other drivers. They are a huge upgrade from regular halogens

That depends on the LED. If the bulb has forward aimed LEDs and/or an actual forward firing lens don't use it. If the LEDs are side firing, placed in the same position as the filament is on an H7, no problem. On that subject there's no need for 360 degree radiation, side firing is all that's required. It is critical, however, that the LEDs do aim to the sides, otherwise the beam pattern won't be right.

Ok next question, did the factory retaining ring work with these? I keep reading that BMW needs new retaining rings for the leds to work

About to get these:

The original worked with mine. However, as I noted here:
http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1377259

H7 bulbs weigh practically nothing, LED are substantial, so I used high temp RTV to secure them.

I just did 6000k leds in highs and 4300k hids low. 6500k is too blue to see in the rain imho (so is 6000k). You can use same clips, just pop out old bulbs from top clip only, and make sure you bend them back before you snap in new. Careful with the plastic surround bulb tabs - they break easily...

Just ordered everything from amazon...I'll do the swap this weekend. Silverstars are going back

FYI - looks like the BimmerCode app is now $26.99 not $35 for iOS.

Thanks for the info

So I can officially add to this thread now. Did the DRL's and low beams today. Parking leds come in tomorrow.

Did the lows through the access panel in the wheel well w/o taking off the wheel.

Went with the Beamtech leds linked at the bottom of page one. Same DRL's and parking as the original poster. Vgate icar2 mini (black), and bimmercode.

I couldn't get my head in there to see but why in the world did BMW decided to put all those little plastic daggers in the housing around the low beams...good lord my hands are a mess haha. Everything works great so far, waiting for it to get dark so I can really see what they look like.

I'll get some pics posted later.....

Big thanks to Billfitz, and Crimson_King for the great write up and all the info!!!!

Where did you find 4300k hids ?

I don't want to use very white light as I find it harder to see in rain. Amazon also don't have h7 anymore.

My Beamtech H7 LEDs arrived today and planning on installing them this week.
I have a couple questions to you and vooonoo :

1) How are the lights holding up? Is the light pattern decent?
1) Did you need any adapters for the beamtech LEDs to fit in the halogen bulb housing?
2) Did your install require any canbus resistors?
3) Any issues with heat? I'm worried that with the dustcap closed, it might get too hot in there.
4) did you have to adjust the lights up/down?
5) My car is still under bmw warranty. I dont think this will affect it but just wanted to confirm.

Thanks in advance!

1.they're great. The pattern seems better than the halogens they're a lot brighter
2. No resistors
3. no issues with hear so far
4. Had to adjust mine up a little think they just got angled down over time
5. You can always take them out before service just keep them in your glovebox if you're afraid of voiding something

Same.

Pattern is good, way brighter than stock.

I plugged the new leds into the stock harness and made no adjustments. Nothing needed other than the bulbs, the bimmercode app, and the obd2 WiFi

No issues as of yet.

Ran into 2 issues:

1)Parking lights: can't get them out. Tried twisting anticlockwise and pulling straight back.. anyone have any tips for this?
2)low beams: it's really tricky to remove the existing halogen. Did you guys use your fingers to bend the prongs back or a screwdriver?

Thanks for this tutorial, I'd already ordered some DRL so when they arrive the info will be helpful.

The main problem with the parking and low beams is access. You have to pull the wheel and fender liner, and use a work lamp to see what you're doing. With the parking lamps turn the bulb holder only about 1/8 turn CCW, use a pair of pliers to pull the holder straight back. As for the low beams follow the instructions in my thread.

Hi crimson_king and all,

Will this option work on my 2017 F25? Hate those halogen lights!

Also, maybe dumb questions but completely new at this:

The OBD stays in the car or can be taken out after changes done with bimmercode?

Because X3 is a higher vehicle, any bulb angle changes needed so as to not blind incoming car drivers?

Thanks in advance for your response!

OBD removed after each use.

Thanks scostu. I kinda answered my other question.

Now, this cup shaped thing that covers the low beam bulb,

Can/should it be taken out before installing LED bulb?

Please anyone, need to know if it would interfere with the LED bulb performance.

Thanks in advance for your answers!

No. If you do you'll screw up the beam pattern.
