Factory Delays

Just been in contact with my dealer about possible production delays. He says that at present there are issues with petrol engine Tourers and that they are delayed for 6-8 weeks.

Just the thread I wanted to start.

Mine's an F31 330d M Sport I've ordered on lease. Initial estimate end of April (based on standard '8 weeks') now saying mid June!

I suspect the dealership (whoever they are) are having a bit of a laugh. Given their initial gambit was 8 weeks and it took them 3.5 weeks to tell me it'd be an extra 11 weeks, I'm not impressed.

I've put an ultimatum down that if they can't prioritise me to May, then I'm gonna cancel the order. The way I figure it it'd be about £11.5k for 2 years ownership. I could spend circa 15k on an older car, run it for 2 years and only lose a max of 6k on it, and save the 330 dream for a few years...

Dilemmas! But then I've built it up so much in my head.....

Well my order is a cash order, so whether this gives me priority I don't know. But I ordered in the beginning of February, build date is mid-April and delivery is mid-May. My delay was 8 weeks for the paint and interior.

Well the dealership is swinging things about it seems. Apparently saying beginning June now. Perhaps I should just avoid losing sleep on this and let it play out. I've told them to add the black panel display

M Sport Blue Hex Trim
403 alloys
320i, 328i
Tourers

Now I know why they say the number 13 is unlucky.

Hi All,

First post here for me.

I was talking to the dealer at the weekend about a possible order for a 330d X-Drive, they were quoting the default 8-10 weeks.

Reading these threads, I'm guessing they are being a bit un-realistic?

Still got to sort out the spec etc yet, so we'll see!

Depends on the spec, but that seems reasonable. If I'd not re-ordered, I'd have had mine in 6 weeks from ordering.

Not too bad then, just so long as it would be here for the summer that'd do me.

Still working on spec, but 330d Touring X-Drive, with alot of toys!

I'm looking to replace a 2 year old Audi S4 which was £47k, so that kind of budget I guess...

Welcome Andy, other than x drive, good choice

I think you'll find the 330 has a longer lead time than 320, as mine is still over 10 weeks away and been on order about 4 weeks already, I think your dealer is being optimistic (unless of course they have a slot already booked).

Best thing to do is arrange a deal including option changes and get it in the system. You then have a few weeks to chop and change spec as you see fit.

Good luck

Well I ordered about 8th march and only now hearing it'll be 1st week of June for delivery. That's about 13 weeks. 8-10 sounds optimistic given what people are posting lately.

This forum is a wonderful resource and I've learnt loads, but it does make you revisit / debate / question pretty much everything you've just ordered ... but that's half the fun!

Thanks,

The dealer said 'they had some orders already in, that they could put my spec on to', wasn't sure if it was just car salesman talk though.

I've only had a quick chat, and a dig around the car so far.

I'm coming from Audi so I know next to nothing about BMW's and the spec, still learning.

Nisfan, I live in the hills, X-Drive is vital for me, it's the only reason that I'm looking to have a change from Audi. Just hoping that it would be as good as Quattro in snow!

Dealers do often have cars in the pipeline that they can change spec on, so is feasible. Think it would have to be a 6 cylinder engined car to work.

Live in the hills? Even more reason to stick with RWD only IMO .....but yes understand the attraction for xDrive.

Hey good news.........no need to carry spare oil in the boot with a BMW

Don't worry, it'll be better. Have owned two quattros and my current is xDrive.

Thanks again,

Sorry for the thread hijack by the way!

Will start my own thread of spec and silly questions once I've been 'un-moderated'.
