8HP45 Solenoid Seals

Does anyone know of a source for the solenoid seals for the 8HP45 transmission? Coming up on a 1/4 million miles and I'm starting to get some odd shifting. I'd like to replace the solenoid seals at the next transmission fluid flush.

It looks like a brand new replacement solenoid kit can be had for $450, or ($139 if you trust the refurbished variety). But after watching a few youtube videos it looks like the wear point is usually the sealing o-rings on the solenoids.

CTSC has a complete overhaul seal kit for $200 (though it doesn't mention if that seal is in there), but that seems like overkill, since I won't use 90% of the kit. I'd really just like to replace the eight seals if I can find them somewhere.

I don't have much experience with the 8HP, but I have worked on more than a few 6HPs and at that mileage I would 100% be doing solenoids (new, not the refurbished ones) along with the sealing sleeve, pan, etc. I get my parts from CTSC too, good place. They're pretty good about selling individual parts for ZF transmissions, if they're not offering it my guess is you can't get the solenoid seals individually. I don't see them listed either.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I guess I should probably bite the billet and replace them. The refurbs are tempting at $100, but theyre probably the used ones left at the shop after someone replaces the whole set. Not sure they do any actual refurbishing lol. $500 for a repair is about as cheap as it gets for these cars. Just hope it resolves my weird shifting issue.

It did on my E60. I was having 4F85 codes, trans would go into limp mode, erratic shifting in other gears. New solenoids, bridge seal, and sealing sleeves fixed it; the dealer said I needed a new transmission. Mileage was about 90K at the time, it was at 130K with no issues when I sold it. Good luck
