Whoever claims that their tune is undetectable is full of pure bull crap and you should consider them very dishonest. I know bm3 guys always says there is a chance warranty will be lost if they go digging. Play to play its always been that way.

Mission Performance told me specifically that NO tune is undetectable, and if BMW looks hard enough, and you have had one done, they will find out.
The end result is that unless your have a problem caused by your tune, or damage done to your car because of your tune, you should have nothing to worry about, and if your tune damages your engine it IS your fault, you took the risk, and to lie about having altered the computer that runs the engine could be considered fraud.
You play and sh*t goes wrong, then you pay, ...... or in my case, I pay, ....... and have the next 5yrs spent only driving my 03 Mach 1 while pay off the balance of the m240

I mean only every car I’ve ever had if you tuned it the dealer always had some backwards way of finding some traces of tampering somewhere let alone these days

Back in my volkswagen days you would switch to stock tune and lock out the computer so the dealer has no reason to sniff around. Those areas of diagnosis would be pretty specific and not something they'd pull for regular warranty work. You're more likely to have them actually investigate the issue and replace whatever broke vs seeing JB4 cables and stuff all over the engine bay, in which case they just tend to say you need an engine.

Maintain a good relationship (i.e. even if you do your own work, buy some parts from them from time to time, etc.) and don't give them a reason to dig deeper into the computer. I know a lot of people local to me that have never had a problem.

Can someone explain why OR how BM3 is different from other tuners? I hear a lot of people excited but don’t understand why...

it's fairly new because it doesn't require you to send in the ecu or install a piggyback, also it's highly customizable for your particular case. ease of use is the main part without tripping the DME counter.

This is true, but MHD, Mission Performance, MG Flasher, Wrench Studios, DervTech, DME Tuning all do the same.

I think PTF just seems to be the best known of all of them, just ahead of MHD. They invest in good marketing, make great gains and are known for exception customer service.

BM3 testing

Hello guys, I've been working with PTF on the B58 and B48 Beta, we've been doing some intense testing and have come across some impressive results! We've done 5 cars up to the moment testing different fuel and hardware setups. Here are some preliminary results and I plan to upload the neat graphs and mod list and setup for each car. Also our B58 M240i ran a impressive 11.0 at 130 mph on the new BM3 flash and BigBoost turbo! We need to get it to grip more and we should see a mid 10s run! So far so good!!!!

Cheaper than what's available now
A lot of features are included whereas some other tuners charge for each option
If the standard map doesn't tickle your pickle or you have a unique setup, Tuners can customize the software to your specific setup
They hold a lot of records

Wow those are some clean looking dynos! Very nice! What mods on the car to run the 11.0 and 130mph? Impressive!

Good explanation, so if you’re staying with a stock set up (exhaust/meth/intake), the only differentiator is price...

I think all are great but bm3 has way more features and customization. You can also sell your license or transfer it which I’m planning on doing when I move over to the Supra. Just went to dealer today to discuss! They have specs and pricing details already.

Main thing for me is price. More options and customization at your fingertips for the money. I have a hard time paying $1000+ for a bolt-on tune. And also as stated above, you can sell the license after you move on from the platform.

Hi @Ray-India, B48 is in testing as well and will be out along with the B58 release. Here's a recent B48 dyno at EPD Motorsports showing 100+whp over stock baseline, +120whp at 6200rpm:

Closed beta is moving along really well with tons of testing with our dealer shops around the World in different ambients

Looks promising! I'm assuming we'll be able to see even more gains for the B46 30i?

Can you elaborate on your question?

With ECU tuning, we're no longer limited by software limitation on fueling. If you're asking about exceeding current hardware limitations.. you'll need to go meth/TBI or wait for Fuel-It to start providing some LPFP upgrade or port injection kits.

I think Mission Performance is going to beat Fuel-It to the punch in regards to the LPFP.

Yep, that's what I was referring to.
