Similar here, rode from Malaga to Jerez via Ronda last September, but that was the last time I was on the bike until Sunday. Arse wasn’t half sore on Monday

Spent the winter ‘trying’ to do cardio & modest weights with variable weekly success. Will probably do some circuits in the garden with my 2 adult boys 22 & 28 but doubt I’ll keep up...

I’ve done a few 300km+ events in the last few years, the Vätternundan in Sweden and the Majorca 312 were particular highlights. Rapidly approaching 60 and starting to feel the miles these days. Need to get out more regularly but work, weather and now Coronavirus have conspired against me.

Don’t think I can claim a 10-12 hour ride is my “daily exercise”

My biggest ride last year was 200km but like you I am an awful runner. I try and do 2 x 5k a week in the gym. Not even attempting it outside.
Best thing about not commuting is I haven't had to run from the car park to catch the train for two weeks. It's always 50/50 whether my heart rate comes back down before we get to Euston.
Are you in the LNR line then? I haven't missed that thing for the last few weeks, that's for sure.
Same line but I pay the extra to go Avanti West Coast. A bit faster and slightly less awful.
Further up than MK then?
Yep, Rugby

Normally that'd be a good idea, but although I can get some sand and cement to make the 'concrete flippers' our local leisure centre is now closed

Maybe when this stuff is over we can have a carless meet at Euston Flyer or somewhere one night....?

That was my thinking but I tend to avoid those north of MK

My audax was in Kent so I think you win on a scenery level!

Sounds like you have some great ones under your belt. The sun will shine once more as will the sound of 50 shoes clipping in on a Sunday.

Yeah, I’ve been lucky enough to get places in a few great events. Did the Maratona a couple of years ago, and the Liege-Bastogne-Liege sportive which I crashed out of. Did LEJOG 9 years ago in 8 days which was fun. I’ve ridden a few of the Tour climbs over the years, but would love to do L’Etape though I think I’m getting a bit long in the tooth. Paris-Roubaix is on the bucket list, mate did it 3 years ago and it broke him.

I'm a bit north of MK and it's great here. We've got some lovely pubs in the village and along the canal. Who knows, we might even get to go in them one day if they don't all go bust

Walked 8.5km with the dogs. Saw two people, one was my neighbour walking his dog. Exchanged pleasantries from 2m away. Got to be honest, the dogs didn't observe the 2m gap!

The other was someone about 200m the other side of the field also walking a dog.

You wouldn't think I'm only 12 miles south of Peterborough.

Dont know the area well - although my grandparents did keep a pub by Sawtry once and I have worked in P'boro twice.... but isnt the key bit of that sentence "south of P'boro"? from driving down the A1 I seem to recall there is f all after P'boro for a far while - well of any size!

You are right, south of P'boro there's Sawtry and then nothing to Huntingdon.

As soon as you are out of Yaxley then it's all farmland and small villages. We have about 300 residents and we are one of the bigger villages!

Yaxley, remember that now. Used the hotel there when I was working long hours and staying over...

The country boy in me misses the quietness of the country. The accountant in me likes London salaries... always a dilemma...

Yaxley is probably most famous for now being where the sex shop is on the A1.

Only an hour from Kings X to P'boro.

We used to have friends who lived in Colindale, north London. We'd say goodbye at King X, and we'd get to St Neots where we lived then quicker than they could get back to Colindale.

Was just out walking the dog in the village. I'm not trying to be all high and mighty but noted a few cars driving at excessive speeds in 30 mph zones. As there are hardly any cars on the road some people seem to be taking the piss with the speeds they are doing.

Two mile walk this afternoon with the wife, kids and dog. Walked across fields and farm lanes, didn’t meet anyone and all accessed from a gate in my garden. Perfect blue sky and a nice brisk breeze to blow away the cobwebs. Bliss.
