Installed my m3 inspired gloss black mirror caps and painted gloss black front lip I have had sitting around for around 3 months or so. Waiting for it to stop raining and I'll get better shots tomorrow evening or so. I really really really need to find a body shop/custom shop to open my passenger headlight to swap the lens. Wet sanding and polishing it does nothing -_-

Fitted the winter wheels yesterday evening (haven't been driving much the last 2 weeks and the temperature was still above 10C when I was... finally got round to it now it's low single figures and below).
Fitted the wheel spacers too, 15mm rear, 12mm front. Got some 10mm and 5mm in the garage so can play around as I decide which works best. Didn't take any pics in the dark, but did get a few shots as I went out on the bike this morning.

New spark plugs, air filter, cabin filter and wiper blades myself. All parts from FCP for right around $100.
Had a local shop change the oil, differential fluid and brake fluid. Also had the transmission pan done again for the second time in 6 months because of a hairline crack that apparently developed in the last new pan. The shop was great and warrantied their work, and I got 2 ZF fluid replacements and filters within 6 months. Should mean that a majority of the tranny fluid is now brand new. |

Finally got around to covering that creepy wood trim. I seriously considered some of the interesting textured film from 3M but figured since the car has carbon fiber accents on the side skirts and mirrors I might as well bring it into the interior.

Nice job! How did the wrap process go? Any major lessons learned?

I found the heat gun to cause more problems than it helps. The best strategy was just to slowly work the vinyl from the center of each piece out then work the edge to get any air bubbles out. Also take a pic of each piece before you wrap it. Although I was able to create each seam around the silver part of the trim there was a couple of instances when I wasn't exactly sure where to cut. I don't know why the DIY videos don't mention this but contrary to what you would think the four door handle trims are actually the most challenging to wrap. There's multiple curves that invite air bubbles to form when you try and get the edges down. I found each one took about 30 minutes of work to get clean but you won't want to do them back to back because your fingers will be wore out. I did two before I went to bed then the other two the next day over lunch. By the way, do browse the other designs in the Rvinyl catalog. I kind of went with the pedestrian carbon fiber but they had some cool modern woods and some cool metal designs. Quite an impressive inventory. good luck |

I did mine last winter and completely agree with you. The door handles were the most difficult pieces and yes, start with the center first...the heat gun is your friend but slow and low is the way to go (a little heat over a long period of time). |

Not a must, I personally like it, breaks up the white as well.

What I'd never do is the full door protector. Those are hideous.

Carpet on the wall... I did that in an old garage... drill a few holes in the brickwork, put some rawl plugs in, screw some carpet offcut to the walls. Doesn't look great but stops the damage.
