10.2" touchscreen for NBT EVO2 on f30

Hi everyone. Does any of the android screens work with the idrive 5 with touch functionality. I retrofitted nbt evo id5 on my 2016 328. I want to upgrade to a bigger screen with touch functionality as well. Wondering if i should go with an f15 touchscreen or wait for one of these android 10.2 screens. But i want to know if the android screens will support touchscreen on the original idrive nav.

Id5 with touchscreen? I thought only ID6 works with touchscreens.

I'm retrofitting an f15 touchscreen to my 18 F80 (with 8.8 inch touchscreen). It's not a directly plugnplay, you need to cut the back of the screen and/or your dash, and also coding.

Currently the f15 touchscreen turns on but stays blank, I'll do some coding next week and I'll let you know if I can make it work.

You can also go for AvinUSA but I don't need android and i want something that looks more OEM. Also AvinUSA doesn't support touch in original IDrive, an no android screen work with IDrive touch.

As far as I know, id5 and id6 uses the same hardware, only the screen is different for the touch functionality. Please let me know how your retrofit goes. From my research, you just need to code for the screen and you can cut the plastic housing on the back of the screen to make it fit on the dash. You shouldnt need to cut your dash. you should be able to take the plastic portion off and then cut it using a dremel. Just need to do a few test fits before filing down to the right size.

I thought ID6 added touchscreen support on the software level. I could be wrong but at least the HU is the same.

That does NOT appear to be a Touchscreen which is why I asked about part number

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/partxref?q=65506816387
It is a touchscreen. This version only works with nbt Evo plus coding. It's used on 17 x5.
The one that isn't a touchscreen is 65509347878 which works with nbt.

Not that realoem is the Bible, but they specifically label the 8” screen as touchscreen and not that part number. With it showing exchanable with earlier year models make it even more puzzling.

Does it say Touchscreen on the rear label of the CID.

Can you post a picture?

This is the reason I asked for part number as I have not found a definitive part number for a 10.2” Touchscreen.

I know 17 x5 has touchscreen and there lists that 65506816387 is used since 08/16 that was why I believe it is a touchscreen.

Although at the back of the display it doesn't say touchscreen, at the front there are IR emitters that clearly only touchscreens have, like in this video:

No Idea why they do that, but I'll give you a definite answer next week as I'll be able to get my hands on my car and try to code the display to work. By them hopefully I show you if it works on my 18 f80.

Hi I was also looking at upgrading the Nav from my 2015 M4 to the ID6 and or putting in an F15/16 screen but I didnt know they were touch screen!

I have a 2018 M2 ar home and that has ID6 touch screen, but the wife would be pretty pissed if she noticed half her dash missing one day!

would like to know more about retro fitting ID6 and screen replacement.

Im a Brit based in Brussels and I know there are few coders on here from Belgium so If any one could introduce me then that would be great

thanks

Looking forward to your retrofit! I've been thinking of doing this for some time. I haven't seen any 65506816387 screens for a decent price though...

ID5/6 (NBT EVO2) is the same HW, although the first iteration of NBT EVO2 on the 2016 cars had a bit less RAM IIRC. ID5 and ID6-light don't support touch screen, but ID6 does. I'm running ID6-light on my 2017 car.

I got the screen from eBay for $900, you can get it a lot cheaper now: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F273499607114

Awesome! Glad it's working for you.

~$700 is still a bit much for the screen IMO. Seeing all those non-touch screens going for $200-$300 has really skewed my view.

Not too many MY17+ F15/16 has crashed yet so the price is still high but it will be lower and lower in the future hopefully (and unfortunately for the owners of the donor vehicles)

No the screen is just a screen (like a TV), the carplay function is provided by the head unit. You need to have a nbt evo head unit to run carplay.

So what screen are you running right now? Your nbt (pre-evo) screen with a voltage regulator?

BTW steve is a good guy and has helped a lot of people. Initially I scheduled coding with him as well however I later figured it out by myself.

Unrelated to the thread but is it possible to retrofit the higher resolution backup camera from F15 to F80?
