Angry Look what I came home to :(

Got off the train and surprise. They did leave a note but it’s going to cost me money due to after market headlights and reflectors. I am thinking $3500 in damages.

I don’t think the headlight is broken and could possibly be buffeted out the scratches.

Pushed everything forward.

Why would it "cost you money"? Insurance replaces what you have, right? Why would you come out of pocket, other than your deductible? Which actually wouldn't apply anyway since the other driver is at fault. You shouldn't pay anything here.

After market parts. Headlights and reflectors.

I have depo headlights and black reflectors in the bumper. I shouldn’t have to pay a deductible since they are at fault right?

My experience is insurance will only pay for stock parts. So halogen headlight not a depo light. If I had a m front bumper they would only buy a stock bumper because that is what the car came with from factory.

This other driver f#cked up your car. And you think they can just say "Oh, sorry, you have aftermarket parts"? No.

Maybe YOUR insurance won't cover it--because that's a contract between you and your insurance company that makes it clear what YOUR insurance will pay for. You have no contractual relationship with the other driver's insurance co. The other driver needs to make you whole. Period.

Jeepers...

The light should be fine with a good buff.

I see:

New Reflector
New Bumper (great time to upgrade to MSport but doubtful insurance will pay for that)
New Fender
Paintwork

Sorry you have to deal with this. Hopefully, you have invoices/receipts for your mods that will justify the insurance company to cover it at replacement value. I would be sure to have it handy when the adjuster does their assessment of the damage.

Not true, in circumstances like this, the at fault parties insurance will cover the cost of the vehicle no matter if it's after market or stock. The issue is, the insurance company when they do they send out there adjuster he will obviously write everything based on stock parts, but once you go to the body shop, make sure you tell them you have these and they will replace accordingly, they can always send the insurance company a new adjustment.

If you were going to fill a claim under your insurance for damage for let's say a hit and run, then yeah you'll pay your deductible and they will replace it all to stock. But you can always just ask the insurance company for a check and then go and replace everything yourself.

If I was you, I would file a claim against the at fault parties insurance, and then when they are all set and done doing there investigation etc, you can ask them for an insurance check made out to you rather then bringing it to a body shop. Then go and buy all the stuff you need and replace it DIY.

I agree with this.

Exactly what I ended up doing with my incident.

If at all possible... come to an agreement with other insurance company on how much damage is present (and the cost to get everything back to normal). Then ask for a check for that amount and go about getting everything fixed yourself.

This will be a bit of a hassle and more stressful but I think you're likely to come out on top with an M Sport front bumper this way, ESPECIALLY if you dont mind using aftermarket parts. I wouldnt worry about that part too much as long as you dont cheap out on the paintwork you will be golden.

Bruh! At least they left a note, my wife Mercedes was hit at her parking job and they didn't leave a note, thousands in damaged, rear door and quarter panel. Cost me 150 for the deductible. SMDH

Wanna hear something messed up?
Even though they left a note with their info on it. In some states (NJ), they can get charged with a hit and run, careless driving, and leaving the scene of an accident, for not getting a police report.

Least they left the note and assumed responsibility. You shouldn't have to pay a deductible bc of it's clearly their fault.

Thanks for the information I was not aware that’s how it worked.

People were really nice and talked to her husband. They already filed a claim with their insurance and gave me all the information and case number.

Honestly it’s not that much money so I hope they will not give me any issues.

I am just worried it messed up the bumper support bar and also the core support for the radiator. It pushed everything forward pretty good.

Sorry, I had similar damage. I had the stock halogen at the time. Mine was circa $4k without the same wing damage as you have. Best of luck to you.

Honestly not that big of a deal. Would have been worse if fender scraped hood.

What color?

Biggest issue will be getting the side fender to match without blending the door.

At least they left note.
