Am I going to roll coal? (Also question on swirl flaps)

Once my warranty is up, I'll be tuning/deleting my 328D with the JR stage 3 tune. I'm going to skip the catback, cut off the muffler and just run straight pipe. Am I going to be rolling coal when I mat the car? Also, I've read up on swirl flaps and read that these cars don't have them, but then saw a post on another forum saying they do and they can be deleted. Can someone comment on this? Thanks guys.

My E90 335d is deleted and it doesn't really roll much coal with a Dudmd Stage 2 tune. So I doubt the 328d will roll much since its a smaller 4 banger.

My Duramax is a different story...lol...it rolls coal pretty good.

"Rolling coal" simply means incorrect air to fuel ratio, or even worse, improper injection timing. Too rich and you will start melting stuff when you sustain those EGTs.

I can make my 1.9 liter Jetta totally obliterate all that exists behind me with smoke, but that doesn't mean you should.

A proper tune will have little to none.

And yes you have swirl flaps. They increase torque.
In F30 they are an improved design over the older cars, and are easier to maintain.

My stage 3 doesn't roll coal but will emit a thicker "haze" during a full throttle maneuver.
